Two Years Today....

Like you also said, "not letting their deaths become your identity". I really appreciated that one and your wise words of wisdom helped me A LOT :wink2:.

Gods blessings and my xoxo's to you

I live by this!

One of my best friends lost her daughter to cancer in January, after a 15 month fight.

I feel sorrowed by this family because they just cannot seem to let go, and are creating scholarships and internships and several other projects in her name. It is consuming them, and worse, they are starting to alienate friends by frequent requests for donations.

They have turned her death into a public and also political event, and I believe that's how they get solace....so they don't grieve alone.

Frankly, I don't know what to do to help her. She's moved far away, so I can't take her to dinner for a heart to heart.

Their daughters passing is still pretty recent! I imagine in another year or two, her death won't consume them and they will learn to "let go"..Yet more wise words of wisdom from you Barb, "not letting it consume you, learning to let go"..

:smile2:

For the majority that would be true. But there are many who cannot - whether the death was by accident, by illness, suicide or violence. I don't know what the magic formula is. The only thing I can think of is "acceptance". For me, it is simply "it is". I can't change the past so I don't dwell on but I can influence the future. Live, learn and move on.
