Update on green-lipped mussel, BIG thumbs up!

I thought it was time to update on my experience with giving Brooke green-lipped mussel joint supplement for her arthritis. We stopped the high dose fish oil. Well, it seems nothing short of a miracle. We did a loading dose (double the amount) for 2 weeks, now cut back to the normal dose. After just one week we noticed Brooke seemed to perk up and not limp as much. Now, almost two months later, we can't believe the difference it has made! She is running quite a bit, bouncing around on her front end while playing with Faith, much more energy and stamina, and decreased limping. It must help her with the discomfort quite a bit! She is like a different dog. My vet is now having some other clients try it as well.

Heck, I'm ready to take it myself for my aching knees!!! :ROFLMAO:

Brooke is on Adequan twice monthly as well as VP Joint and Muscle, but honestly the Adequan itself did not seem to make any difference. (She started that months before the mussels.) At this point I just don't want to mess with success, so I'm keeping her on it.

So it has two thumbs way up from us. It's not even that expensive. We are using Super Snouts Joint Powder. The trick is to make sure whatever one you buy is cold-pressed - any heat in the manufacturing process destroys the good stuff.

My basset did 6 months intensive adequan, when he was a little over 1 year old. Bad problems with his front legs, and cartilage. It did wonders for him. But, now he's almost 8, and with new little brother Finn the Sheltie, he's been bouncing around like a pup again....& in the evenings, can get pretty stiff. I was wondering if later in his life he's need it again, But I will be happy to try this instead!

I've had the same happy results with canabidiol for Layla. Isn't it grand when you find something that really works on the older ones?

GREAT NEWS!!! I found Adequan did not work at all for Mr. Chance.

Logan is 13 now so I bought some for him!
He is not showing signs of arthritis ... but, thought it might help to head off any issues in the future!

Thanks for sharing the update!

I also have been giving Green Lipped Mussel to my 2 dogs. I started them on it a little over a month ago when Piper had a shoulder injury that after two weeks of Metacam and Robax and then another week after a cortisone shot showed no improvement. I started him (and Riley who's 9) on it on a Sunday and a week later on the Wednesday Piper was 100% better (albeit weak muscle). I don't know if it was the vet manipulating his shoulder the day before or the cortisone shot finally working or the Mussel but it was a miracle in my book. He's still doing great and my older Sheltie Riley has sooo much more energy Piper can't catch him when the play in the yard. Riley used to run and then quickly find a corner to duck into to get away from Piper but now there's no stopping him! I would recommend this to everyone!
