Update on Gypsy

My last post Gypsy was being tested for tick born diseases. Her lymes came back as high as it could be but she had had a vaccine in May so the Vet had to do further testing. The test came back today and it is not Lymes her Titer is high so the next step is to do an ultra sound. I'm hoping we will finally get to the bottom of this and be able to see what is going on with her kidneys. Now that her skin has cleared up I have stopped all her meds for that. Around March I will resume giving her Atopica in hopes that will prevent The skin issues we encountered this year. I'll let you all know how the Ultrasound comes out which we are in the process of scheduling now.

How long ago did Gypsy get the lyme disease vaccine?

Isn't there a side effect of the lyme vaccine, where dogs will have symptomes of lyme disease including kidney failure?

"In some cases, dogs develop Lyme disease anyway. It's believed that the antibodies in the vaccine can develop into Lyme disease. Research finds dogs develop all the symptoms of Lyme disease up to six weeks after receiving the shot. While tests for the Lyme disease bacteria show up as negative, there are many dogs developing all the symptoms. Left untreated more concerning issues develop."

I do hope you soon can get to the bottom of it, it must be so hard not knowing, and not knowing how to treat it. As always I will continue to keep Gypsy in my thoughts:smile2:

Actually Gypsy's test was basically coming up positive due to her titer being so high but there is a test the vet had done that tells us whether she does have Lymes or it is just showing due to the vaccine. To be honest she hasn't shown alot of symptoms of lymes. They tested for it to see if this why she is having problems with her kidneys because lymes can cause a kidney issue.
