Update on little Kissy

Oh my gosh, Caro, I’m sorry to hear this. But thankful that you have a DX and a treatment plan. It sounds very complicated! I wonder why this is cropping up repeatedly there and if other Shelties are getting it too. It doesn’t sound like something one would recognize easily from symptoms, much like GBM with specialized testing. I hope Kismet improves on the new regimen and things quiet down for you! Sending many good thoughts your way. :hugs

Holy crap. What a run of bad luck with your Shelties. And that's not an issue over here with ours. I'm so sorry poor little Kismet is affected, but at least now you know and can help her to some degree. Is it pretty low dose pred? Faith was on 5 mg daily for almost a year for her brain tumors and she tolerated that pretty well but that's a low dose.

Kis is on 5mg a day too, but she's only 5kg so it's fairly high for her. Della is on 2.5mg every day - but that's because of her MDR1 status, Tully was on 2.5mg every day in the end. I'm hoping she can be shifted to something else long term, as Kismet is only 5yrs old a lifetime on pred is not good. She's lost her undercoat, just as the frost hits.

What makes things harder is Della just poops in puddles nowadays and eats anything she can put in her mouth. I don't know how much longer I can manage Della, she's happy enough - it's just me that's exhausted,

I can’t imagine a houseful of sick dogs how difficult that must be for you! And the poor dogs…hard to understand why this continues to happen! I’ve never seen anything like this here with any of mine nor have I heard of it happening to anyone else, certainly not to this extent!
I hope you can get to the bottom of this and at least get some stability with them, fortunately you do have a treatment plan! Hopefully they (and you) can get some relief and improve to live a long happy life!
