Urine on chest!! HELP!!!

A lot to think about

I plan on breeding Casanova so nutering is out, and we're going to the vet soon to get the rest of the genetic tests done so i'll ask him if their is a medical reason he does this.

The thing is he doesn't seem to do it on purpose, he just lifts his leg and BAM all over. Other then this one thing he is a very miticulous dog. At the dog park my other shelties will lay on the ground and get dusty or muddy, they will roll on the ground or let other dogs nom on them and get them all slobbery. Casanova gets angry anytime drool gets on him and he refuses to lie down outside unless its on a rock, porch, sidewalk, etc unless i order him too.

My dad has suggested it's because his penis is so long but i feel like that's a cop out and we should be able to fix this!

I might try wearing a coat thing, because everytime he is outside he marks. At the dog park, once he's gone a couple of times and is running on empty he'll cock his leg and either a) nothing comes out or b) a few drops come out and end up on his belly fur.

I have no idea if it would work but if you put him on lead and walked him every time he has to go out and then when he goes to cock his leg put some steady tension, not a jerk, on the lead to unbalance him slightly, he might lower his leg a bit to keep himself from falling over. If it works then you would have to do it for an extended period of time until it become habit for him to not lift so high.
 
I would have the vet check him out.

It could be that he is not quite correct anatomically (i.e. perhaps his p**s is tilted too far forward?)

I can't think of any other reason for it. Whether he lifts a leg or squats should make no difference.

You could put a video up on youtube of how he does it and then just post the hyperlink here. I'm considering doing that because Claussen does the same thing, and it's easier for people to understand if they see it happening. When he lifts his leg it causes his back end to angle his package a little different, giving it a further distance, and off to the side, causing him to hit his feathering and sides of his tummy fur.

As for throwing him off balance..he does that just fine on his own because he cocks his leg so high, and if he starts to lose balance he just does a three legged hop all over the place..thus causing urine to get on even more fur :lol: Wouldn't hurt to give imbalancing him a try yourself though!
 
I don't have this problem with my two boys, but to avoid shaving, I would suggest getting some waterless shampoo for the in-between bathes. You spritz it on, rub with a towel and brush out (carefully of course on the sensitive parts).
 
I don't have that problem with my Lucky. Now my girl, Lil' Lady I am just about ready to give her a bikini cut besides her poop shoot. She is low to the ground so she pees on the inside of her back legs and it gets on her belly.

I use baby wipes and wipe her down. So much fun, like having a baby to pot train, but its don't pee on the fur.
 
my Suzi hikes her leg to pee, does not get any on her fur. she has always lifted her leg, since a pup
