Vaccinations For Dog With Seizures?

Since Lily's been having these petit mal seizures the vet (and many others) have suggested no more vaccinations for her. She's had all three sets of puppy shots, but hasn't had the rabies. I'm not too worried about the rabies as there aren't wild animals around and it just seems rather unlikely a rabid dog would come up and bite her.... as far as next year goes when she's due for her shots and she doesn't get them... does this mean no dog parks or anything with lots of dogs around? It seems kind of scary as I don't want to just not take her anywhere with me and leave her at home all the time, but I don't want her to get ill.... I've know many people who didn't get their dogs shots and nothing ill ever came of it, so i'm probably just over reacting....

Anyone have any suggestions on precautions they take for animals who can't be vaccinated?

I have always worried about the correlation between vaccinating and the onset of seizures. I have attended several seminars on the subject. I NEVER vaccinate until their 8th week birthday, and then on their 12th week, and then 16th week. Rabies is given separately, anytime after 12 weeks. I never piggy-back shots. If a puppy is an itty-bitty, I push the series out a extra week. This protocol works very well for us, since I don't let puppies go to their new homes until 9 weeks old. I like to keep the pups for observation a week after their first vaccination. I also only vaccinate with "Continuum" DAP by Intervet. I purchase it myself and take it with me on their first visit for their "well puppy" exam and vaccination.

Lily was 8 1/2 weeks, then every four weeks after that and she wasn't tiny... but they vet said not to do the rabies or anymore ever again just to be safe... she had her first episode about three weeks after her last set of shots...

Lily had her first episode three weeks after her second set of shots, then she had her second episode four weeks after her last dose of shots... wonder if there's any correlation?...

My vet thought the vaccines were the cause of Pixie's early onset seizures. But he still vaccinates, although sparingly. She gets rabies every three years, and other essential vaccinations such as distemper only as indicated by titer testing. Now that she's an adult, she's done fine on that regimen.

I do know that some people don't give their adult dogs any vaccines, including rabies. Where we live, rabies is required by law. I'd be very cautious about exposing an unvaccinated dog to other animals on walks or at dog parks.
