Vaccine and vomitting?

Yes, it surprise me too - Minnie has never responded to the vaccine or worming - she has been absolutely as she used to be both on the drive home and when we come home.

Could it be our vaccines that are different ??

Lacey is very sensitive. She always gets a Benadryl shot and then we wait a while for her to get whatever vaccine she needs. Then we wait again just to make sure she is ok. When she got her rabies vaccine it took at least an hour. Benadryl shot and then 30 minutes, then rabies and another 30. She was completely fine after, but I'm glad my vet knows her history and does this all the time with her.

Cleo didn't really react to any of her shots as a puppy as far as I remember, but she is due for more on the 20th this month. We will see.

Judyg- Alta sounds very much like Lacy, she is due for her rabies shot in a few weeks, my vet mentioned Benadryl for after her shots if I thought she was too lethargic but didn't mention anything about giving Benadryl prior to the shots. Did you give Benadryl both 30 min before and 30 min after her rabies? If so did you split the dosage between the two? She will be having just the rabies shot alone.

You should only give Benadryl once, and be careful with the dose for a puppy. Be sure you buy the plain, single-ingredient Children's Allergy Benadryl -- NOT the Benadryl Allergy D which has an ingredient in it that is toxic to dogs.

I give 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon depending on the dog's age and weight. Your vet can tell you what the best dosage is for your puppy. You can give it either before or after the shot, and then later in the day, but follow your vet's instructions.
