I had been wanting to get my pup into a puppy class for obediance (basic stuff) for a while, but the training center I wanted to use was backed up for 2 months!

Well I was finally able to sign up for a class and it starts tomorrow with orentation for the puppy owners. I'm pretty excited, and I'm sure Vash will be too once he's actually attending the class. They actually already gave me homework, which was to read through the 30-40 pages of literature on their website.

Basically it's a puppy owners manual, and addresses the majority of typical puppy problems and how to be a leader. Looks like this is going to be a great class, and I'm hoping it'll help both Vash and I understand and get along with one another better.

Great to hear you are starting in puppy class, you must be excited.
Please be careful of choke chain proponents and the you have to 'make' your puppy respect and be the PACK LEADER kind of dog trainers.. They are often wayyyy to harsh for Shelties, and do not use POSITIVE enforcement but compulsion
I do personally do NOT agree with that type of training...

Other than that just ENJOY, it's all about having FUN together.. you'll love it :)

Very exciting for you and Vash! I love taking classes with Bentley and Lexi. And I've found that puppy classes are the most fun :)

I went to the orientation on Sat. There were supposed to be some other people there, but they never showed up! So the trainer offered to give me private lessons or transfer me to another class.

This place does agility, flyball, conformation, rally, CGC, Therapy dog, tracking and acting/trick classes, and one of the things that really attracted me was that they offer hearding training, among others and I was told because it would effectively be private lessons we could do a lot more than you would normally do in the puppy class. The trainers going to bring other dogs like her 3 collies to help socialize Vash and in a couple of weeks another pup might be going to join the class.

It's slightly disapointing that there weren't other pups in the class, but Vash is pretty well socialized as it is, and I can't really throw away the oppertunity to get one on one training for him at the group rate price :)

I'm still pretty excited though, and I'm wondering how Vash is going to react to the Collies, I think it'll be great fun.

Unfortunately I already have Homework! I mean I haven't done that stuff in years!

That does sound nice! Could you PM me the site, so that I can also read the literature? I like to read all the different thoughts on this kind of thing.

And I would go for the class, too! Plus Collie socialization? Too amazing.
