Very scary day yesterday

Yesterday my husband came home around 2:00 to find my entire house all smoky! We have an addition to our house that has a built in wall air conditioner (the rest is central air). Well it overheated. And it isn't even 4 years old yet! Cleo was stuck in the house with all of that smoke. Hubby let her outside and gave her some water. Then she started drooling and panting and of course I freaked out. I got Cleo into the vet right after work. That was the only time they had because they had another emergency they were dealing with. By then she had stopped drooling and panting and just smelled of burnt plastic. Despite all that, the vet said she looked pretty good and showed minimal sings of any lasting damage. He gave her some pills for the tiny irritation in her nose and throat and an antibiotic to make sure bronchitis didn't develop. She even got an okay to do agility class. So in the end she is okay and I can breath a sigh of relief.

Wow that is scary. Happy to hear the outcome is a good one!

It's interesting timing that you posted this. We just had a security system installed in our home complete with a fire detector. I worried so much that something would happen when we weren't home and the dogs would be trapped.

That would absolutely terrify me! I am so glad it wound up being okay. I hope that the thing is still under warranty. But mostly glad that little Cleo is okay.

wow Brittany, I am so glad you caught it in time. Fires are so scary. Poor lil Cleo, glad she didn't suffer any permanent damage from being in that situation. Guardian angels watching over your angel :) Products are just NOT reliable anymore. I get so nervous leaving the girls home with anything running because of the claims I have seen where stuff fails for no reason.

What might not have happened if your husband did not come home early :gaah

Poor, poor Cleo, she must have been so scared at the same time she got it so badly. :hugs

But what a relief to hear that she is ok now.

If that had been Dickens the smoke alarm would have scared him to death! Good to hear that everything is alright with Cleo.

Oh how scary! There was a house fire in a town close by recently and a dog trainer lost 8 dogs and 2 cats from smoke inhalation.. every dog lover/owners worst nightmare :(. Glad Cleo is okay!

What a relief that your husband came home when he did!! So terrifying. Very happy to hear that Cleo is ok!

Someone I know lost 13 dogs (Shelties and Chinese Cresteds) to a house fire. Such a tragedy. I am so thankful your Cleo is safe!
