my pack have step in harnesses - I leave the leash clipped to one ring and hold that end while pulling up the other side.

Lupine have some nice light-weight harnesses that are easy to use. I haven't tried it, but I wonder if the step in harness would be the easiest to get on and off. The roman harness is pretty easy, the only downside is the belly strap isn't adjustable

I have the same problem with getting a martingale on and off Tully, but she hates harnesses and runs away whenever I get one out. So I'm stuck with pulling her head off several times a day to get the martingale off.

This is what our daughter does with her dog's easy walk harness.
She is very satisfied with the easy walk harness.

I forgot to add there ARE buckle martingales. It's not cheap but we have one from Hogan Leather and it wears beautifully (and haven't had discoloration from the stainless steel.) https://www.hoganleather.com/store/martingales/adjustable-rolled-half-check-stainless-steel/

I had a lot of trouble figuring out other harnesses and this one he puts his two front legs in the hole and I snap the top. So easy! It is also very soft. My dog is 22 pounds and just makes it into a medium.

Corbin, which collar did you decide to purchase? I, too, have been struggling with finding a "user friendly" harness. I just have returned at least eight in the last month. Just too complicated and too toke consuming for me. Jackson, as he has gotten older, is starting to pull if he sees another dog. It is quite a work-out for me, weighing 120 pounds and pretty thin!!! I used to use a nylon chock collar but I need a harness.

I ended up just working with what I had. I followed Take4Roll10's recommendation and leave the one strap buckled which makes it a little easier.

Isn't there a bunch of controversy about those harnesses negatively affecting how the pup walks?
I have a really basic click together harness for Sana but I still prefer just slipping on her martingale since she has figured out how to "superman" out of the harness with far too much ease. Never had her slip out of her martingale though she is pretty happy when it comes time to take it off.

Ruffwear Webmaster. That is the one you want. The two belly straps are what makes it slip-proof. Yes, the first time you put it on, there will be adjustments. Here's how. Put it on and don't snap. Move it until the breastplate is over the breast bone area of the dog. Then adjust the two neck ones (evenly) to carry that breastplate there. Then go to the first belly strap and set it nicely at the girth behind the armpits. Then adjust the breastplate to girth strap to help it ride in that spot. Then do the belly band. Then do the back belly band which needs to be snug but not crazy tight. Once it is adjusted that first time, it's over the head, lift the paw to go through (the dog will learn to offer that right paw very quickly), snap, snap and off you go. I would not walk my dogs on anything other than those harnesses. I have had my shepherd and Cubby both pull out of harnesses with one belly strap. Cubby is a 17.5" sheltie in the 30's for weight. He uses a small. My 55 pound shepherd mix uses a medium.
