First time a set of 12!
So, being careful not to overdo it with the little dog's brain, I have taken it easy and just did very, very short sequences every other day.
I decided a couple of days ago to add another 6 weave poles further apart, leaving a bit of a space . I could reward him for staying in if I wanted to, and to see if he drives ahead to the next set instead of looking for his reward.
I figured if I have built enough value for the weaves it could work, and it did.
I also want to allow him to think, haha not easy for a blue menace but he does have moments of brilliance, I swear
Funny enough I have added some channel weaving the last couple of weeks, as I found it speeds weaves up and keeps them fun... So, now and then, and in class, cuz the other people aren't quite there yet we have the weaves still somewhat open like a channel.
I found that 2x2 weaves sometimes creates dogs that hop more from left to right, with a low head and curved back that form shortens reach and creates less forward stride. So, that's why I thought that might be a good idea, and thus far we love it!
