weeping eye

My 10 year old Burwick has a weeping right eye. Nothing serious but usually it is a bit wet below the eye from the tears. I see him wiping it with a licked paw sometimes. His next scheduled trip to the vet is not soon so thought I'd ask here what might cause this. Thanks in advance

Sometimes it's a blocked duct. Sometimes it's a foreign body causing a scratch. If it persists get him seen .

Lots of different causes for weepy eye. Could be a scratch, foreign body, allergies, upper respiratory issue, etc.

I usually wipe it with a warm cloth for a day and if it doesn't improve, off to the vet we go.

Weepy eyes, too

Our Casey has had weepy/crusty eyes for years. When we got his teeth cleaned a few years ago, we asked the vet to check his tear ducts for blockage or any other reason that would cause it. He said no blockage existed but that Casey actually has no lower ducts at all. He gets crusty stuff just below each eye all the time so we clean it off for him all the time. He's actually gotten pretty adept at rolling his face back & forth on the carpet (ick!):ick to get it off by himself. Shelties are nothing if not inventive pups - it's kind of funny to watch him do it!

I'm sure your vet can help you discover the problem, too.

Hollie's eye used to weep too. Our vet told us it was a combination of allergies and possibly a blocked duct.

We just kept it clean and I would out warm compresses on it.

I hope he is better soon.
