Weird rubbing of just the nose on Floor

Hi, my brother has a female shelty about 4 years old, and over the past month and a half that I have been around I've noticed she, when it comes to pizza crust, won't a.) eat it, b.)moves it around, but c.)rubs her nose on the floor so that it squeaks like a finger on a clean glass and then moves the crust again and then makes the squeaking...I saw your post about marking, but none of the responses addressed this behavior. Is she marking it for later though she never eats it, or do you thing she is removing the smell. If she is removing the smell then why touch it over and over again...

My AnnaBelle used to do the same thing, and I never understood why... I just laughed and laughed (it was pretty commical). I'd be interested in hearing why she did that.....with all kinds of stuff she didn't want to eat (only food though).

I thought maybe she was trying to bury it with her nose???

It's not rotted yet. They try to bury it to dig up later. All my dogs at some point have done this including my sister's lab when we were kids. At least that's my reasoning.

Rhiannon, the Terv, does this when she is not interested in eating something. It's like she wants to bury it so that she doesn't have to look at it anymore.
If she did it for no reason then I would be concerned about allergies or yeast as rubbing of the muzzle is often a first sign that something is wrong.

Danny Boy does that too. Like he doesn't like it and wants to bury it. When he likes the smell of something he wants to roll on it feet up in the air and snorting. Like perfume wafting onto the carpet or laundry fresh out of the dryer.
