Wesley acts strange sometimes on walks

Took Wesley to vet and had a blood panel ran and thyroid tested. It came back with him having high triglycerides. So they are going to check again next week after a 12 hour fast. Everything else was in normal range. He had ate about 2 hours before. Also vet said he had hip dysplasia right side but on read out it has he has Medial Patellar Luxation of the the right knee (grade 1). I will ask him after they recheck his blood and he calls me with the results which it is. He wants to try him on pain medicine for a week to see if he will walk better and if he does then they will do X-rays to check. I haven't picked up medicine yet but will when I take him in Tuesday for the retest. Wesley doesn't limp he just stops while we are walking and stares out in space for a while and somedays he stops quite a often. Now when he starts stopping we turn around and go back to car even thought it may take a while because of his stopping.

It sounds like you are starting to get some answers for Wesley. Having had several dogs with luxating patella issues I know it can be very painful when the knee pops out of place and for the dog to suddenly stop moving is a typical symptom.

Keep on eye on those triglycerides. There's a correlation between elevated lipids and canine diabetes and pancreatitis. I would consider medication to lower the levels (having lost a dog to pancreatitis secondary to diabetes).

"The lady that grooms him said to ignore him and don't say a word or look at him and just tug on his leash and he will walk. She said he just wants my attention when he stops" :gaah
Wesleymom - it was really so good you took Wesley serious and got him checked at the vet.

This indicates again and again how important it is that we "listen" to our beloved dogs :hugs
