What age to start ear tipping?

The Japanese tape is all you need. Remember, you also want the tape to come off eventually, without hurting the puppy, and "super-aggressive" adhesives might be too much!

You definitely do not want to be overly aggressive. I made that mistake with Bacca. I put so much glue in, that when it was time to reglue, I had to cut the old glue out. Then there was no more fur to glue to! Gluing ended prematurely for us.

A light touch with a good glue (I used Speed Sew). And make sure you have an adhesive remover like Detachol (it's used for removing bandage adhesive). Works great, and doesn't smell so your pup won't react to it.

Good luck!

thank you everyone - I will make another attempt at this using the japanese tape tomorrow. I didnt clean the ear with alcohol or trim the hair so maybe that's what is keeping them from staying taped down.
I'll let you know how it goes!

Cranpup came with glued ears- we kept at it until about 7 months- they seemed to be staying down so we quit. they go straight when Cran looks up but tip again when he looks down.
Dixie was 10 months and tipped when she came home.
We used wig glue- worked pretty well
