What are the best crates? (on a budget)

Awesome thanks!!!!!!! 4 new show crates coming to my house!!!!:biggrin2:

I know between Rachel, myself and another friend , we brought 16. Can not beat that price.

No idea how long they will last. Site says 260 left in stock. There were about 500 at midnight 2 nights ago and it is hitting the sheltie community on FB. So don't wait too long.

no kidding!! Awesome price!!!!! And for the price if they only hold up for a little bit (although I have midwest crates that are 10 years old and still look new) I wont matter...and finally no more shuffling crates between the car and grooming spot!!!!My back is going to be psyched!!! :biggrin2:

Sheltie Nation will probably buy them out. Wish I had got a deal like that when I bought my two.

It really all depends on the dog, but I would say your smaller two could pull of the 24" crate Justicemom posted. Missy is 15.5" and she uses a 30" crate at tournaments, and a 36" crate at home. I think I could easily fit two of her in the larger crate. There have been tons of threads about what size to get, but I say you don't truly know until you test one out at a pet supplies store. I did that and then bought mine online.

How do I get the right size?

F-kap is 16 1/2"
Jody is 16"
Sarah is 14 1/4"
Ida is 13 3/4"

At shows and in hotels all mine comfortable fit in 24" even big Birch 16 3/4". At home, I have a 42"
that he stays in during the day. That one is huge! 2 of him could be in there. The smaller dogs a 24" is plenty.

Uhoh... I just saw that prices are going up, it's $17 now. I'd better hurry!:uhoh:
I'm sending the money order TODAY!

I've been lucky. I only bought his puppy crate at close to full price.
The wire crate was a gift from a friend (her dogs outgrew it), I picked up a plastic travel crate on Craigslist (I bleached it to clean it out), and a soft foldable crate from Target. I will say the puppy years are not kind on plastic crates; they are so much fun to chew!

But the price on the wire crates looks pretty tempting....

I looked all over craigslist for some crates (been looking for months) but I all I could find was a ton of miss matched retail priced ones. I've come across many good deals on craigslist but when it comes to dog items you've got to pay top dollar. Something I'm not willing to do for used, peed and pooped in dog crates.

So thanks again Dr. Shelli! If you hadn't posted that link I would still be trying to figure out how in the world I was going to pay about $250 for 4 crates. Now I'm paying just over $100!:biggrin2:
