What big name do you admire in agility?

mmm, I do not know many big names but those I am familiar with
Dana Pike- amazing eye to see a problem you have, great teacher with refreshingly frank statements matter of fact...
Steve Schwartz- "agilitynerd", for putting so much into his blogs and support of agility community, for being real nerdy about nitty gritty details with handling, for being very helpful and challenging in classes.
Martina Klimesova- for amazing extra special gift of training animals.
Silvia Trkman for encouraging to find your own ways, artist intuitive approach to agility/dog training, for teaching people to play with their dogs.
Fanny Gott for teaching precision and asking relevant questions.
I do not know Daisy Peel but I know of her and think I would really like her too. Few buddies have taken her classes are saying heaps of good stuff about her. Yeah and she kissed her dog on the nose before she competed:biggrin2:
I have books and DVD's By Linda M and have my great admiration for her. I like when " big names" walk the talk and talk the walk. Linda seems to be " always training" in the ring, no matter how big/ important trial is.
The word admire does not come close to how I feel about Susan Garrett, I am better human because of her, not to mention my dogs are happy dogs.
Overall I think I would admire just about any big name athlete if I see that they are kind to their dog. Making all those live streams for just about any competition is really bringing it out how many people are not kind to their dogs. You watch it and you just know, specially in those moments when things fall apart and mistakes are made how how handler reacts, how deflated that dog gets... yep, I like to live in my bubble of people competing with their dogs and treating them as their precious companions and teammates...

I also like Erin Schaefer and Tori Self.I don't care for Susan Garett though she is a great teacher.

I haven't met most of the really 'big' names who have written books or are marketing themselves on the internet.

I have met Nancy Gyes and audited a seminar with her. I have immense respect for her and found her to be a really good handler and teacher.

I also really admire Kim Terrill who has earned national titles in both AKC and USDAA with her dogs. I've been taking private lessons and weekly group lessons with Kim for the past year.

Donna Rock is a great person. She comes here to trial occasionally and I've been following her on FB for a while. She's been getting into herding lately and it's fun to follow her adventures with dogs and sheep. When Isaac was headed for her home earlier this week, she packed up the dogs and went to Texas to take more herding lessons. :biggrin2:

You're right - he's fantastic too. I really appreciate and respect the work he does.

I don't know too many big names because they mostly live back east. And as we all know......you east coaster don't want to travel out here :( boo hoo hoo. LOL. Actually, I guess for top competitors, there really isn't a reason to go out of your area.

Yes, ITA. He does great work on his blog.

I admire all the people who have created new training techniques. And those who continue using the old stand-by's.

I think the first person I really related to was Daisy Peel. Mostly because she said she doesn't believe in one handling technique and uses what is best for the dog and her. That is exactly what I needed to hear. At that point in my agility career, I was going against a lot of typical training techniques. It was just great to know someone as successful as Daisy didn't subscribe to one technique. So, for now, I admire her. I have seen her run at a local trial (that I was running in too), so at least I got to see her at work. Amazing.

the ''big '' names i admire are the ones here that do agility, and share their pics, video and stories. i feel like i know these furbabies.

This is true. I have learnt much from the people here who are so generous with their knowledge and experience!

I also did look up Donna Rock. Holy cow!!! She's just amazing! :eek2:

For me it's Silvia Trkman, Lisa Frick and maybe Jakko Suoknutti.... there's more.... also some great handlers from our country who are not probably world-wide-famous.
