Interesting. I have never used rolled collars, so I can't comment on that, but mine have never gotten matts under their collars. I hope it's not something to look forward to in the future!! *crosses fingers*

And in reality, guys, who can see a collar underneath that ruff anyway? I know I'm proud of my Leashes by Design collars, but noone ever sees them!

So my vote is forget the pretty pictures and select a collar that fits without rubbing.

You could make the argument about having your dogs wear the collars outside in a fenced in yard, and I would let you have that one. A dog could somehow get out (if you have crappy fencing or people leave a gate open - I've had it happen to me once with Smudge). But my dogs don't wear their collars inside the house. I don't see the need in it.

I have a Leashes by Design leash, but I am rather annoyed with their collars. I do not like custom made collars, and I really regret buying the two that I did, as neither of them fit. Smudge's was too small and Fluffy's was too big. So I'm not a fan of custom made collars. I like their leashes, but the money I wasted on those collars could have went to something else.

I've always used flat collars, and I probably always will. My dogs do not have matted fur around their necks.
 
Sheltie pup will only be wearing a collar when out on walks or training, at home Cadbury wears none and sheltie pup won't either.

I do have a rolled collar for Cadbury and I like it as it does compress the coat less. So sheltie pup will probably have one too.

But at training club we have to use flat collars (club rule) and not half checks, so sheltie pup will have at least one flat collar.

The thing I like about Rogz is they are very hard wearing and secure and yes I love the designs too. They might not be seen but I know they are there.:wink2:
 
The kind of collar I really want is the one like Jennifer uses for Shaine and Ellie. I have no idea what it is. It is a metal collar with link chains. It's very, very slim but sturdy. I think, and I might be wrong if these aren't the right ones so don't kill me, but I think these may have been it:

They were not a martingale or a choke collar. I'm not getting one until I go to another dog show though, because I don't want to order it and that not be the right one!

Bailey wears an embroidered nylon buckle collar 24/7. She hasn't had an issue with matting around her neck. My sheltie angle wore one her whole life and never had a matting problem either.
 
Chain/choke collars are completely banned in my training club, so I couldn't get away with those Jessica. The gold is nice though.
 
Sca only wears his when we go for walks, he is at the party house or travel. At home he is collar free. Oh and he chewed through the leash if that helps y'all resist temptation :razz:

No, no, no. :uhoh::eek2: Those aren't the ones she used. I can't find the ones she used. They are not a martingale and they are not choke. I will have to ask next Wednesday when I see her what kind they are. They are really, really slinder and pretty looking.

The ones in the link are not the ones I am talking about, but they are similar. I think the ones in the picture are choke chains, but I am not talking about choke chains.
 
If they are not choke I would be tempted. If you find out what they are let me know:yes:

I could image a nice gold on Cadbury, it would really off-set the chocolate.
