What is it with puppies and toilet paper?

We have seen Clara running through the house with the end of a roll and the rest of it streaming off the roll. Since we also have two cats that enjoy shredding it, we just started putting it on the roll the backwards way so it can't roll as easily. Seems to have worked. I saw Tara watch me lift the lid on the trash can once. Fortunately, I also saw her first attempt at getting into the same can. I shouted, "Tara NO!" And since the absolute worst thing is to raise your voice to her, she has never tried it again. Annabelle is five and still can not be trusted alone in the house. Tara can be. But she gets nervous and will find something to take very tiny bites out of.

Casey is practically perfect in every way.

Honey who is 10 will destroy Kleenexes and paper towels if left on the tables. She would even get it off of our high table. No idea how.. she is a magic woman. She doesn't like TP though. Ruutu never really liked TP either but he liked to open and close our garbage bin in the bathroom and pull out floss.

My first Sheltie literally ate my report card when she was a puppy. I was an irresponsible 8 year old, the report card was left on the floor. We discovered Jasmine had chewed the corner, but it was still usable. Of course, I had a panic attack thinking I was going to get in trouble. I was already a day or so late bringing it back after having my parents sign it, and now it was chewed. My mom was a teacher at the school I went to, so when we walked into the school, we met my teacher in the hallway. We must have had really guilty looks on our faces, because she said, "Let me guess, your dog ate your report card?". Yes, yes she did. Luckily my mom started laughing or I probably would have cried (I was a very sensitive child). I still have the report card at my parents house. If I remember the next time I'm over there, I will take a picture.

Missy liked to shred napkins and any paper products she could find as a puppy. Luckily she's outgrown it for the most part! Every once in a while she'll get bored and decide some random paper I've left laying around needs to be in smaller pieces. Luckily she hasn't done it to anything important!

Paper

We thought maybe it was a Chip thing!

He has unwound the TP twice. It seems like such great fun, how can you really scold them? Anything in a trash can is "Open Season". The only animal I ever saw that could shred paper faster was a Gerbil our son had.

Envelopes, paper towel, softener sheets from laundry room, tissues, cardboard boxes, etc. etc. We are rather impatiently waiting for the next phase. Maybe it will be better or at least different.

Our youngest daughter will be 29 this coming Friday. You understand we haven't had a baby for some time, until now!

Truthfully? We enjoy Chip so much, we really don't care too much as long as he doesn't get hurt. LOL

What are you puppies so hot over TP for? Mom dropped a piece, I et it, it tasted terrible! Now ice cream, THAT is worth getting excited over.

Oh man, Watson has never once touched the toilet paper, come to think of it- neither have any of my cats. I'm sitting here watching him play bow at Pixie with a squeaker toy in his mouth and I just KNOW he would love to have a canine playmate. I've been showing the boy all of the super cute pictures of everyone's puppies... I will be sure to always skip this thread! :biggrin2:

Fletcher is a year old, and I still can't put toilet paper on the roller without him spreading it all over the floor.....
