We've donated to the shelter here in town many times,even if it is open ours will take it.
But if you only have that little bit left,personally I would finish out the bag,to be sure as you say there are tummy issues involved.
I have for cat food,since our little Bumper has been tried on so many much better foods,and she refuses to eat it,that there is a neighbor of ours that has cats,and giving to them bags of food.I just let them have it,even though they are 95% full,as the folks are on a fixed income.
