When Rescue Goes Wrong

Perhaps she is mentally ill, or this has escalated beyond her ability to be rational?
With the court order in place there will be a resolution - hoping it's one that puts the best interests of Piper at the forefront.

Since I don't know her, I don't know if this is normal behavior or if a screw has gotten loose.

While I was looking for another case that happened in my area a few years ago, I stumbled upon these two cases. I know there is a difference in circumstances between Piper's case and theirs, but it's interesting because it was the same GSD rescue involved. Fortunately in both cases, the dogs were returned to their owners after the courts were involved. http://texasdoglawyer.com/2014/03/sargent-monte-rescue-v-owners/

The rescue posted their $10000 bond today - Piper will not likely be going home any time soon. I just don't understand how a rescue could have that much money to use on this, unless she is getting private donations for it.

I don't understand how that rescue is still getting any donations after this. I'd want my donation dollars to go to animals that are actually in need of rescue and not ones whose legitimate owners want back.

Oh my gosh. I can't believe she posted bond. If I were a donor to this shelter I would be on the phone with the IRS.

My gosh. Just let Piper go home. Use that money on dogs who need saving.

If you go to the Piper FB page, read very carefully what else is going on. I won't post but it is so interesting to read. If someone doesn't have FB and would like to know, please PM me.

Do you realize how much you can do with $10,000? How many vet bills, how much dog food, how far $10,000 can go benefitting other dogs who truly need help? I don't know what this woman's agenda is. Following this story has made me absolutely sick to my stomach. I just can't believe how far she will go to ensure a dog doesn't get back home. She seems to have a good amount of supporters, and I imagine that is where the money is coming from. I just pray they come to their senses and realize how insane the situation is. There are other rescues out there doing good that deserve support and financial assistance, but COSR is not one of them.

Astounding

At this point, you have to wonder what she has really done with poor Piper. Something is very wrong with the system if the court doesn't demand to see the dog and determine her exact whereabouts.

And who is funding this folly, condoning the irreparable damage being done to the cause of rescue? How many dogs could be helped with this $10,000?

My payday is Friday and I WILL be sending in a donation to Veronica.

*Also will be sending a donation to the California pups.

This baffles me. I know I am not the only one. Why is this woman giving up everything for this one dog?

No one has seen the dog in over 100 days. THAT is disturbing.
