When Rescue Goes Wrong

OMG! If only half that young man's story is true, how awful! And it's terrifying that two others are helping her. This is one instance when I wish there was instant karma. A PI needs to be hired to find Piper--lord only knows where the Mirage went....

I had heard snippets of this story from being involved with the fundraising effort for Bring Piper Home, but this is the first time I've seen it all detailed and documented in one place. It is astounding how this woman continues to operate completely outside the law with no repercussions.

Like Jess, I've had to back away from the Piper page a bit because it is so upsetting and there's a feeling of helplessness even if you're working with the group. I only hope that after Piper is finally home with Veronica, Ms. Sanderbeck will reap her just desserts.

I am glad to hear that though I am very concerned and upset, I am not the only one who has had to get away from the FB page. I would like updates, but not all the unhelpful banter.

I think I am the most angry at the courts for not simply demanding the dog be presented in the courtroom and held by a court-appointed designee. That seems to be in the dog's best interest.

Wow this is all so crazy. I'd followed a little but hadn't really dug into it. That article from Aaron and Adam though is just creepy. This woman running this rescue sounds deranged. Also if the home keeping all these dogs is in such deplorable conditions as witnessed by police why have they not sent hot animal control yet? No offense to anyone but I'm glad I don't live in the Columbus Ohio area.

From what I understand, the condition of the house was not observed by the police; it was observed by one of the sons when picking up a mattress. I don't think the police have entered the home at this point. The video shows the officer talking to Penny through the screen door. They chose not to enter the home for the safety of the dogs when they went to search for Piper (I think they had a warrant). They haven't tried again since COSR posted the counter bond as far as I know.

In this article, http://www.bestinshowdaily.com/blog/veronica-covatch-pipers-mom-speaks-out/ , it says the officer entered the house when the home break in was reported and in his police report that the house had a strong stench of urine and was in general disarray. That's what I was talking about.

The other side filed their answer in court yesterday. It is up to the judge now to decide the next step. Praying that he sends Piper home. It has cost the breeder thousands of dollars already.
