when to get a second dog?

thank you everyone for sharing your stories- it is very helpful to see what is waiting ahead...hubby finally started talking about getting another pup as a reality so we are aiming for next fall/ winter after Che is turning 1 year old Sep 30.
I do want to give my pup as much training as I can while he is still in puppy stage and iron out few problems before new pup comes. Right now Che graduated from puppy class and is enrolled in basic obedience. Am planning to do at least one formal obedience course and beginning agility class to set the standart. Then it will need logistically figured out how to drive 2 pups in one car/ Yaris/ and how to take them to different training sessions without leaving one at home....
then the next question- where to get the pup...
 
good for everyone planning ahead. I was pretty impulsive about Cranberry but he's so great, I don't regret it at all. I think Happy and Callie still do a little but I think Callie is getting a little more tolerant. I'm sure that Happy will adjust eventually too.:yes:
 
I think 1 or 2 is a good age to consider a new pup! I tend to agree that it's a good idea to get the basic training under control before introducing another. And I certainly would not introduce another if there were outstanding issues, like house training, leash walking, recall, etc.

I completely agree and this is why I have not gotten another dog YET, :winkgrin:
