Got a suprise wake up call when the boyfriend came in from taking Zoey out for her bathroom break Saturday morning. No one likes to woken up to being ask "Where is the vet's phone number."

Zoey has a case of the tapeworms. Apparently it is very common for puppies her age (almost 6 months). Who would have thought that ingesting an adult flea would give a dog tapeworms.. do they carry tapeworms in their stomaches as well? I have never had a dog that has had tapeworms before.. but I guess there is a first time for everything!

Don't worry. It happens. They are very easy to get rid of. One pill now and another in two weeks.....piece of cake!

Tapeworms? Are you sure? Was is spaghetti or rice? Spaghetti is probably roundworms (which is very common in puppies), rice is tapes (less common in general).

The quick answer to both could be Drontal Plus, but Diatomacious Earth will kill off the round worms. It doesn't touch tapes though, you need actual drugs for that.

My boy had tapeworms about a year ago...guess he ingested a flea though we had no evidence of it. I was totally baffled, but at least it clears up quickly.

Kind of gross, though!! :dead:

I'm not the one who saw it, the boyfriend did. We called the vet and they said tapeworms, took her in and they gave her Drontal Plus.
