You said it was BEDTIME!!!!

Spelling won't last very long. If one of us saw the mail coming we would say the mail man is coming. Amber learned what that meant and would run to the door or a window and bark like crazy. So we started spelling mail man. It only took amber a few days to learn what( m a i l m a n ) meant and she would go to the door or the window and bark at the evil mail man.
Maybe you could try sign language.
It's not easy to out smart a sheltie.:smile2:

so true, my 1st learned w a l k, immediately, and as for sign language I used it with both my previous girls when they had hearing loss in old age. They picked it up quick, I could sign to them when they couldn't hear me. Shelties are smart and they pick up clues so quick...

Thanks to the wonderful Daylight Savings Time, last night, DH and I were having a hard time convincing our bodies we were sleepy enough to go to bed. So, DH says, "Well, do you want to try it and see if we can go to sleep yet?" I was playing with my phone and watching an episode of The Big Bang Theory and said, "Yeah in a minute." So, we keep watching TV in sort of a zoned out state. Then Cooper started barking. We ignored it for a second because we thought he was just barking at a cat. But it kept going. I finally called for him, "Cooper." And no Cooper in sight. I called a couple of more times, and still no Cooper in the room. But he kept barking. I said, "You don't think..." DH said, "Well, I think we need to go check." So, we tiptoed down the hallway, and there was Cooper. He managed to jump onto the bed and couldn't figure out how to get back to the floor. So, we said, Bed. He got excited and ran into the bedroom. He was so excited that he forgot he can't get onto the bed when I'm home. And he was stuck. So, we did a good sized belly laugh and decided that Cooper was right, it was time to go to bed.

Cooper, you need to convince your momma to have you a set of steps made. I had done that for my Angel, Bambi, only took her about 6 attempts to realize she wasn't going to fall off the sides. Next day she was running up them like a pro!

Best money spent to keep her from jumping down, I live in an apartment and the floors under my carpets are concrete, that is a very hard landing for their little legs to have to withstand. :smile2:

WE HAVE A SET OF STEPS THERE ALREADY! He just won't use them. Little booger.
But he has a nice elevator that works so much better than steps

Give him time. When I first got Spitfire he could not even get on the couch. That was Sca's escape from the Orange Horror place. He would go right up to it then try to jump rather than get a run. Now he goes everywhere to Sca's great dismay at times.

We did use pony express but she figured that out in short order too. I think she is smarter then her sheep.:wink2:
