Remember my sheltie Yuki who was unbelievably fearful and timid. Well, we moved to Australia from Tokyo 9 months ago and from the day we picked her up from quarantine she has been a different dog. It must be the open spaces as opposed to urban living that has made the difference. She loves Australia. I couldn’t even get near her with the lead in Tokyo as she was too scared to leave the house. Now she runs up to me so she can go for a walk. She loves people, whereas before she would not let anybody near her. She also wags her tail; she never did that before. She is so happy here. She loves the beaches and the parks and hanging out in the backyard like an everyday Aussie dog. We also bought a very confident border collie pup shortly after we moved back and she has been a major influence. Yuki takes the lead from the border collie. So we now have two lovely well behaved dogs. I never would have thought that Yuki would have made such progress.
