Oh I just remembered. Ember going for her third AKC UD leg(her title that is). She had shown though novice(3 titles), Open 2 titles and had her UKC UD so she was a pro in the ring. For some reason ,she was in a squirrelly mood that day. We had made it to the last exercise directed jumping and was still qualifing but not by much. Ember had already almost ran out of the ring once and was bouncing around like a wild child, at one point she ran around me 3 times before settling into heel on the moving stand.
So Directing jumping, first jump, I sent Ember out between the jumps and told her to sit. She did but her legs were wide and she was rocked backwards with her head tilted up like she was about to have the zoomies. She did the jump and headed straight for the ring gate and then at the last minute(on her own) veered towards the judge gave him a bark and a jump as she runs by and plops down in heel instead of front. Second jump, Ember runs out and instead of sitting drops into a playbow with her butt in the air her head cocked back and her eyes wild, tail wagging. Holy cow. Instead of giving me the jump, the judge waits. I don't know why, if he was waiting to see if she sits or breaks(NQ's if she does) or what. I'm thinking in my head give me the jump. Finally he does and Ember sails over the jump comes zooming into front bounces off my left hip and lands in heel position with a bark. That how she got her title. She never acted like that before or since.
I got lots of my she had fun comments after we got out of the ring. Shelties like to make sure their owner aren't getting too serious.
Oh no, sounds just like you have a sheltie clown on your hands. Deska is my clown and boy have I got a lot of embarassing stories - agility trials, obedience tests, RSPCA activities days - if there is an audience Deska will do anything for fun! Mind you, I think the clown shelties are the best because the thing they love most is to make you smile, even if sometimes its a grimace!
