Zulu Has Crossed The Bridge

Today we bring Zulu home. We decided to have him cremated, easier for us to bury him under the tree that we planted when Cody passed away. Going to be a tough day, but we can now fully start the healing process.
Thanks again to everyone, having all of you for support means the world to us.
I am not going away, cannot imagine my life without a Sheltie....

It will undoubtedly be tough and tearful. But so nice to lay him to rest at home.
And we count on you not going anywhere, Riky! You are a long term valued member here at Sheltie Nation.
I hope another set of four paws will find its way to your heart and home. :hugs

Zulu already picked a puppy to send your way.

We had a pleasant surprise at the vet's office. At the time we did not discuss the cremation process, was not expecting anything special. Zulu's ashes were in a beautiful wooden box. They also gave us a paw print in clay, and a sympathy card signed by everyone at the clinic. My wife said no way this was going in the ground. Zulu will spend the rest of his days in the house with his other mementoes.
There was also a card with this poem:

I just wanted to you to know I made it home,
The journey was not an easy one, but it did not take too long,
Everything is so pretty here, so white, so fresh and new,
I wish that you could close your eyes and that you could see it too,

Please try not to be sad for me,
Try to understand that God is taking care of me...
I'm in the shelter of his hands,
Here there is no sadness, no sorrow, and no pain,
Here there is no crying, and I will never hurt again,
Here it is so peaceful when the angels sing,
I really have to go for now... I've just got to try my new wings!

Oh my, I'm crying now. That is so special that they gave you that to help comfort you. Such small thoughtful gestures mean the world, don't they?
