    Abscess?

Cooper It isn't actually a tooth problem. Matter of fact, it isn't near his mouth, but higher up, between his eye and ear. Anyone had anything like this to suddenly appear?

    Abscess?

Pictures of Cooper Here are several pics of Cooper's swollen face. Mind you, the hair has been shaved covering it, but you can see how upsetting this is. I'm applying the warm compresses, but nothing else is draining, so I guess it's back to the vet in the morning to open it up. Wish us luck!

    Abscess?

I am so upset......was petting Cooper yesterday and felt this grape sized lump on the right side of Cooper's face, sort of between his eye and ear opening. It felt hard, he didn't even wince when I palpated it, so it didn't seem like it was painful. Needless to say, I googled everything possible...

    Drooling, Vomiting, Unable to walk

Cooper's Test Results Well, Cooper recovered from that last episode of whatever and so far hasn't had any more. The vet ran a whole battery of tests(to the tune of around $200), including thyroid, bile acid, ammonia, blood chemistry, urine, and all tests came back negative! At least it's not...

    Drooling, Vomiting, Unable to walk

Liver ultrasound Because he was only 4 months old when it happened, the symptoms were so similar to liver shunting, and without any known toxins he had ingested, that was what they suggested. He was practically unresponsive when I got him to the vet in Boston. But just like today, it wore off...

    Drooling, Vomiting, Unable to walk

Video of Cooper at Vet's I finally realized that I could send you to my flickr page to see the video of Cooper. Remember, it's pretty disturbing, so be prepared. Madlyn http://www.flickr.com/people/maddie980/

    Drooling, Vomiting, Unable to walk

Cooper's Better Cooper is better this evening...at least he ate some dinner. This symptom lasted about 3-4 hours, with some unsteady walking even 6-8 hours after it ended. The vet thought it could be vestibular syndrome, which is like an equilibrium thing that usually happens with older dogs...

    Drooling, Vomiting, Unable to walk

My 9 month old sheltie this morning had an episode of excessive drooling, vomiting, was unable to control his hind legs to walk, to the point that he could barely sit up because of weaving back and forth. He had an episode similar to this when he was 4 months old, was seen at Tufts in Boston...

    More shelties in the snow!

Cooper in the snow! He's just glad to be back in North Carolina, even though he enjoyed playing in the snow in Anchorage and Boston....

Shelties moving things around the house..

Ball hoarding My Cooper who is 8 months old has a game he plays in which he pushes the small tennis balls under coffee tables, couches, beds, etc. After he gets all of them (usually 5-6) under there he stands and barks until someone gets them out. This usually rquires getting down on hands and...

    Hello from NC

Just wanted to say hello as I'm new to the post! Have a 12 week old sheltie pup, Cooper, that I purchased in Alaska while working up there and brought back to NC. He's loving the weather here as opposed to having to "potty" in the cold and snow. I'm really enjoying the website and consider it...

    High Protein Diets

Protein for Puppy New to the forum, and I'm loving all the information! (Although with a new puppy it can be a bit overwhelming.:confused2: My sheltie is 12 weeks old, breeder was feeding Kirkland's as it was less expensive having 13 dogs in her "tribe". So after reading I started switching...
