  • Hi Ontario Sheltie and Mcquiregirl2248
Thanks for asking about our William
At this time we are totally confused, he had his ultrasound (which went on for nearly two hours, he was so stressed they could'nt get the readings, so after about 35 minutes of him laying on his back (which he hates) - they gave him a sedative and continued with the shaving till the poor dog had no hair on his underside,
then only not able to find anything, and not being able to see everything as one his kidney's was way up in his ribcage.
William has been through all the tests that I am willing to do at this time,
and they have not shown anything negative, except for low positive kidney disease.
The other test that I am not willing to proceed with is called a "deprivation test."
which means for a day he is deprived of water and is given an injection of some sort - followed by every two hours of testing throughout the day.
Not only can I understand why this test is right as todate William drinks 6-8 cups of water per day and uses the bathroom every two hours. I am scared that this test would put him in Kidney failure
Plus he is totally freaked and stressed out with all these tests.
So we (that is my husband and I) have decided to give him the best of quality of life and enjoy him for whatever time he may have in peace - we WILL not let me suffer in any way, especially as we lost our little girl Apr.07. with the same problem.
On the other hand William is otherwise acting totally normal - eating, and playing as he has been for a while.
So we don't feel he is in any immediate danger of total kidney failure.
We luv this guy so much, and pray for yet a few more years to share with him.
    Sylvia & our 4 shelties.
Hey Sylvia! Not sure if you saw my post yesterday or not. I was wondering how William is doing. Did you find anything out yet? I hope everything is going well. Take care!
