I have had a very difficult time gluing my 16 week old shelties ears. I am using tear mender. It comes unglued after a couple of days and nothing.... I mean NOTHING removes the clumps of hard glue from her hair. I have tried the uni-solve wipes and it does absolutely nothing, doesnt soften one bit. I ended up having to cut some hair to get it halfway out. She still has hard clumps and unfortunately unglued ears. She freaks out when she sees me with the glue or solvent. I would like for her to have tipped ears but at this point it seems inhumane what I am putting her through. What am I missing here?
We use that for all our puppies and never had an issue getting it out with unisolve or detachol. Detachol does seem to work better IMO. I have even used just a small drop of Dawn dish soap and warm water in a pinch. It also lasts for weeks in place.
Sounds like too much glue is being used. I did that with my first pup and it does not stick properly unless it is hair to hair. Not glue to glue or hair to skin. I just glued a litter of 8 week old puppies yesterday and no issues. It is not inhumane and not one puppy fussed abit.

So I learned my lesson! My latest puppy is now 14 weeks old and I have to reglue his ears every week or so because he plays so rough with my other dogs that they pull the ears and the glue comes undone over and over and over...
