3yr. old in HIGH KILL SHELTER IN CA.

I just got home from a very long hot day at work. I just heard this horrible news. He has already been at the shelter since 9/1. His 10 days would be up tomorrow if they had checked for a micro-chip when he got there. There seems to be a complete lack of competance at that shelter.

It's great that he'll eventually end up with the rescue, but it's awful out there. Hot, smelly, and very stressful. I am so bummed!!!

What an emotional roller coaster. Keeping whisky in my prayers that she gets out of the dog pound soon. I hate those places. Let's hope whisky stays safe until he gets out of there. It would be great if somebody could go see him.

Oh jeez. I'm sorry, but what incompetent people. Microchips and tattoos should've been the first thing they look for. Are you serious? Another 10 days? Added onto this already LONG wait? I don't understand why they couldn't allow someone to at least foster him during the time.

Poor Whiskey.

I'm sure the rescue would take him in. He could get cleaned up and checked out by a vet. This is inexcusable!!!!

anyone knows about other 2 pups? Is there site to monitor what is going on there? I have to ask our CISR how they deal with this because it is really looks ugly, poor Whiskey could be at least fostered until things settle down either way.

I haven't heard anything about the other 2 shelties. I'll see what I can find out.
Does anyone know how to report a story like Whiskey's to the local news media? With people all over the country trying to help this poor dog and the incompetent shelter doing nothing but getting in the way, I think it might be a good time to get the media involved.

That's an awesome idea.!!!

Great idea!

I've seen a few TV news channel websites that have links that say things like "Report a Story" or something like that. I don't know if email is necessarily the most effective, but it might be easier to contact a couple different outlets that way.

I did a search last night to try to find something like that. I had no luck. Of course I was wiped out from a hard HOT day of work. I have to be at work all day again today. One thing is: I don't want to do anything to mess up any relationship the rescue has developed with the shelter, so before I do any more I want to run it past my rescue contact.

Oh brother!! Please don't tell me they didn't check for microchip first thing! When I have found two stray dogs lately (no collar or ID) and took them to the shelter myself (after asking all around the neighborhood) the very FIRST thing they did while I was writing down the info on them, was check for a chip.

Good grief. Isn't that standard protocol? After all, would save them money, space and effort in the long run.

I'm sad Whisky is still in that place where it's hot stinky and stressful.

Thanks to Dawn for still more effort on his behalf.
