A Fake Sheltie???

I honestly thought I was getting a sable Sheltie boy when I got my Laddie, but as the years go by I strongly suspect he is actually a rambunctious yellow Lab hiding in a Sheltie's coat! Laddie, who is now almost 5 years old, is a total bulldozer who smashes at full force into anyone or anything in his way...often knocking his smaller "siblings" flying through the air. Riley, small female mixed breed rescue, gives chase and tells him off in no uncertain terms (he is actually afraid of her LOL) but Pommie boy Panda (who is oversized for a Pommie at 12 pounds) just comes running to me to save him. I have never before had a Sheltie who didn't at least make an attempt to not bulldoze into others and then show zero concern when his behavior is not met with happy cheers. Other than that Laddie is a total sweetheart who willingly shares everything, even his bed and special treats, with the others...but he sure is unique.

Sca and Spitfire would ram each other. Chasing was the thing but Sca was faster. So they would run side by side often and shoulder the other guy into stuff etc.

But it was very intentional not bull in the china shop.

Oh dear he's obviously not outgrowing that trait. Should have named him "Tank". Too bad he's the biggest guy in the house, but I love the thought that little Riley lets him have it. I have noticed much rougher play between Meadow and Juno than when Meadow was a puppy with Elijah and Faith. But they take her down when she's too much.

At least he's a nice boy about everything else. How much does he weigh?

Laddie sounds a lot like my Finnie who just turned 7 and still hasn’t slowed down! There have been times when he’s knocked Piper down so I do try to stay on top of it, mainly by making sure Piper is out of the way! Blueberry is pretty safe because she’s way faster than Finnie (plus he’s sort of afraid of her).
I’m thinking Laddie has a few more years to go before he starts to slow down!

I think Pico is fake sheltie, too. he is more like a golden retriever in a sheltie fur coat.
This guy LOVES everyone.
Not a shy or reserved bone in his body.
incredibly confident and self assured.
rarely barks at the beach, too. even when playing.

LOL Yes, Tank would definitely have been a better fit for my Laddie boy. He weighs 31 pounds and not a bit of that is fat...he is just a biggie.
