A Hard Lesson

Ann, I didn't know. I am so furious that this happened! I'm glad to know you'll be physically ok, but the residual trauma is the worst. You've got me thinking I have to change my ways when traveling with Bonnie.

Sending much love and prayers of thanks that you're still with us!

I'm so sorry I'm late to posting. Hope you are doing better and you have recovered from the pain and whiplash you must have had. You have really had some struggles over the years. You have made me realised too that I need to be more careful with the dogs in the car, even short distances.

Thanks, Caro and everyone. I'm recovering, but slower than I'd like. The splint is off my hand and I've been cleared for physical therapy which is helping my back, but the neck pain is tough to heal. And I'm finding that I'm a very nervous driver now. I hope that improves. Here's a picture of my totaled car, which I've just replaced.

Sorry you are having a time of it. Neck pain is dreadful! Are you dealing with a pinch? A disc issue? Can they do anything to relieve? I am SOOOO sorry!

Just can't 'like' that picture! What did you end up with for new wheels?

Driving... I've never been hit as hard as you were there... but I did have the unfortunate experience being hit by a drunk driver years ago. We were actually at a bar with him - we had a DD, he obviously did not. Hit us a ways away as we were headed home - pulled out from the right and nailed us. Been hit a few times on that side - hubby was driving route 7 and a guy nailed my side - made a left turn across 4 lanes from the right side - he obs looked at 3 other lanes but failed to see our pickup truck! 30 and 40 years later and my heart still skips a beat with cars pulling out from that side... I don't think it's something you ever forget.

I wanted the safest car I could find this time. Although I must say, my poor Nissan Rogue took good care of me in that crash, it could have been much worse. I got a Subaru Forrester. So far I love it, except for all the bells and whistles on the dashboard! It's like learning to drive a space ship!

I couldn't like it either and I like just about every photo:winkgrin:

It does take a long time Ann! I T-boned a Dodge Charger almost 10 years ago and totalled my little Ford Fiesta (it was almost new)…the driver of the other car ran a red light. My neck still bothers me to this day! The fear of driving is something else…I once spun out on top of a bridge during winter. To this day I have a fear of driving over bridges!
Could you take a defensive driving course? Perhaps if you knew what to do it would lessen your anxiety?

That was an ugly car picture-- PT will help and yup the journey may be slow. I know how discouraging it is sometimes-- back in 2003 I was in a motorcycle wreck- T boned a car, my back smashed into the rear fender then I went over the trunk and slid down the road. No broken bones fortunately but I did a lot of damage to the lower back. I am paying for that now but PT has really helped and exercises to strengthen supporting muscle and time time time. I have also used TENS units to help with the discomfort and CBD cream-- follow the doctor advice and good luck. Scary if you had had your dog with you-- but kudos to the hard plastic crate.
