Agility Titles and your AKC name

I looked at the premium list, and the first run is $20, that would be jumpers. If you did standard also, with the same dog, that would be an additional $15. You would run your dog once in jumpers and once in standard. Somehow, I am reading your post as if you can run 1-4 times for $20(?)
Also I read it that there are 330 runs per day, per judge. So, JWW would only have 330 runs per day. Entries opened January 26th. Here in the Northeast that would have filled very quickly, long before the closing date of March 27. Sharon would have a better handle on how fast entries fill now. One other thing, if you are only doing JWW, I don't recall every having a closed chute or any equipment other then jumps and weavepoles. I put AKC Open titles on one of my dogs about 10 years ago, so things may have changed.
 
Trials

missjennygirl is right. Trials fill here very quickly.Especially the ones in winter time. They are usually filled on opening day.
 
Order of AKC titles

I hate to see ads with the order of AKC non-championship titles wrong. They are done in order of when the event started, so:

Obedience/Rally (Rally goes here because it falls under the obedience regs, even though it is kinda new);
Tracking;
Herding;
Agility (regular, then preferred)

So my dog is CD RE OA OAJ NAP NJP; if he had a herding title, it would go after the RE.

They my not be AKC titles, but the titles I have on Edan from CPE and TDAA are just as "real" as the titles AKC issues. The same would be true for any titles you earn in NADAC.

Just because AKC doesn't recognize anything but their own titles, which is their prerogative, that doesn't make titles from other venue any less "real". In fact, venues like TDAA and CPE have processes in place for 'quick move ups' if you have titles in other venues so you don't have to completely start over from the beginning. The rules for each venue will explain how that works.

(Edited to add since I posted before my morning coffee: The "tone" of this post may not have come out the way I intended. The point I was trying to get to was don't fall into the trap of thinking that AKC titles are the only 'important' titles out there. If you are a breeder and AKC registered, then yes, AKC titles in any venue will be more important. If you aren't a breeder, titles from ANY venue will reflect the hard work you've put into creating your Handler/Dog team. No offense was intended in my post.)

I think what was meant by real is titles that actually appear after the dogs name on AKC papers.
It's not AKC just being mean in not allowing those titles from other venues either. Those other titles belong to that venue, and AKC can't add them. They don't have permission from other venues to add them.

I admit. I didn't understand it at all. I even called my trainer in hopes she could help me figure out how much I'd be paying. My husband said we should just go one day, enjoy the Shelties and then get out of there. lol.I also think there's another NADAC trial that weekend, so we'll see.

Oh, I emailed the woman in charge, they're still accepting entries.

No offense taken. I knew what you meant. And I hope I didn't offend anyone by insinuating that the other titles are "less". They're not. I'd be happy getting a NATCH just as much as a MACH. I just liked the idea of having some "official" titles behind Koji's AKC name.....as in, on his certificate, etc. As someone said, I can put all his titles from any venue on his name, but it won't be listed with his AKC name in the AKC database. That's just me. Besides, all I really want are his Novice titles eventually. I doubt we'll go as far as MACH/NATCH (what's CPE/USDAA top title?).

I'm curious. Do you think it's the "area"? Because I count 4 AKC trials in April, and 5 in May. I think we have an AKC trial somewhere within a radius of 50 miles every weekend. So maybe that's why they don't fill up quite as fast? And many times, when there's one 50 miles south of me, there is one 50 miles north of me that same weekend.

NADAC on the other hand, fills up VERY fast, because there's like 1 or 2 a month and that's within 100 mile radius.

Glad I didn't offend you. Sometimes when I post before finishing that first cup of coffee things don't quite come out the way I intended. When I went back and read my post it struck me as coming off that way.

Champion Titles:
  • CPE = C-ATCH (CPE Agility Trial Champion) which you receive for completing Level 5; CPE also has C-ATE (CPE Agility Team Extraordinaire), their "C" level. To earn this you need 5000 points.
  • USDAA = Not sure on this one but I believe its ADCH (Agility Dog Champion)
  • TDAA = TACh (Teacup Agility Champion); this is probably the only title I have a shot at with Edan

Some clubs (like mine) have simplified entry fees. I think our April trial is $18 per run. Easy math. :smile2: Or even easier, $100 for all six runs over the two days.
