AHHHHHH The shedding....

I am so glad we are moving into winter and the fur stops flying. Although my dyson died a couple of weeks ago having sustained a fatal dog attack (Deska bit a hole into the evil vacuum's suction pipe:rolleyes2:)

Here's a tip. Get an outdoor broom and sweep the carpet first before vacuuming, you would be amazed how much fur you can get up this way and it puts less strain on the vacuum.

Zak blew his puppy coat for months. I think because he had an enormous puppy coat. He is my first to have such a big blow.

LOL
funny/// I can't keep a vacuum either and can't afford a Dyson.. wish I could LOL
Ask others but if you keep killing vacs then you cannot NOT afford a Dyson. I am a slacker on vacuuming but mine has survived Dow who would actually change size when he shed  and now Sca and not only is it OK it still works well. Ask others but it seems to me that it lasts longer and is worth the $$$

Thanks Everyone! I feel like I was just overwhelmed with the whole thing, honestly I think I still am. He is still shedding and he's had about 4 baths (one planned and the other 3 were results of illness or a desire to pretend to be "Swamp Thing" in a puddle)

I honestly don't know where he packs all that fuzz. The best part is the fact the undercoat I'm raking off is statically charged so it sticks to Vash's fur until we go outside and then all of it blows off him like he's a dandilion in the wind.

The dyson wanted to quit but I wouldn't let him today. 4 full canisters later and the carpet and floors were clean enough for Vash to lay on again and populate with fur.

Since the weather hit the low-80s Toby had I have had biweekly appointments with a quick line brush outside. Too much hair to do it indoors!

I also vouch for outdoor brooming your carpets before vacuuming. It's gross how much more you get out on your first pass... thankfully (and sadly) we have 36" tile floors in our current apartment. You see every dang fluff ball, but I also have the satisfaction of knowing all the hair gets swept up!

One of my girls blows her coat really bad twice a year. Of course it's always when it is colder out and I feel bad if I make them stay outside for a while. My dyson always wants to give up too! I usually have to run the dyson every couple of days because there's so much fur all over that it makes me gag!

What you want is a used Canada Compact/Tristar Vacuum cleaner, or a filter Queen. They're the type of vacuum cleaners that are made so that they last forever, instead of throwing them away after a few years of use. They can be repaired (usually small things like wheels wearing out) and repair costs are relatively cheap compared with buying a new one.

My mom bought her Tristar new in 1985 and its still amazing. I bought a used one about 6 years ago. It was made in 1987 and works great. Its awesome for dog hair.

I'm going through the same thing with Toby right now. He seems to shed like crazy all the time and even worse when he blows his coat. I don't know how he isn't completely bald.

Toby and Ginny were racing around in my parent's yard last week when we were visiting. They lost track of each other and collided. A cloud of fur actually rose above their tangled limbs when they hit, lol.
