Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for your input. Yes Ryder is VERY food motivated too. He does like to play with me and loves to play with Maverick!!!
I have been living in Sioux Falls for almost a year. My husband got a job here a year and a half ago as we are from Canada. Hence the reason I am not working as I am here on his visa. boo hoo:) So I guess that makes me full time fur mommy:)

All I can say is "been there done that". My first few posts here on the forum were basically like yours, what am I doing wrong, I don't think she likes me, doesn't want to be held and will barely let me pet her!! I used to cry because all I was doing was giving, giving to her and she was pretty aloof with me. Megan is 8 1/2 months old now, was 8 weeks when we got her and she is starting to finally be a little affectionate.

She shows her affection in different ways and I am learning to accept that about her.

You are doing a wonderful job, give it time and patience, it works out

Thanks I really appreciate your post. I did some crying too!!! Especially when my older dog Maverick is so affectionate!!! and loving. I really thought all Shelties were affectionate. So I was thinking maybe Maverick was sending doggy signs...don't touch my Mom. My husband has been away the last 2 weeks so I had no confirmation if he would be any more affectionate with him. I would cry to my husband on Sykpe...the puppy does not like me. After everyone's feed back I feel so much better!!!THANKS
