An Update on Ginny's Numerous Issues.

I agree with ignoring the poop incidents, unless you can catch her in the act and treat her like a pup, praising her when she does it again where she is supossed to?... can't do harm? It is so awesome how much work you put into it.. AND because Sadie will also benefit, because she gets the one on one!
I think dogs need one on one time, to develop individual relationship with the handler, and not just as a group with dynamics...

We've never stopped praising for going in the right place, we praise both of the dogs, so that's not the issue.

And you're right about the one on one time. Sadie got a lot of it before we got Ginny, but Ginny hardly gets any one on one time, comparatively. It's something else I'm working on. :smile2:
 
Ginny continues to do amazingly in her obedience class. She's done so well that she's surpassing Sadie, which completely shocks me. There is really nothing that I can complain about. She's done so well that the trainer said she would make an excellent obedience dog. I'm going to sign her up for advanced obedience and see how she does. I'm still sure that I think she'd like competing. She's kind of a nervous dog and I think the new environments might be too stressful for her. I also dreamed of competing with Sadie, not Ginny. Not that I don't want to train with Ginny, its just that this new thought will take some getting used to.

We haven't had any accidents in the house for a couple of weeks. Don't know if its a coincidence or not but I'm glad its not happening. She is still confused with the front porch and keeps going there. I caught her trying to go on the back porch a couple of days ago but recognized the signs and sent her to the appropriate spot. I'm trying dog/cat repellent sprayed on the floors of the porches in hopes that it will help with her confusion.

Sadie continues to do well at obedience as well. We were practicing off leash recalls and leave its last night and Sadie performed wonderfully. I couldn't be more proud of her.

My only frustration with the two of them is myself. I basically haven't trained with them for the past 3 weeks outside of class. My health has been bad so I've been working to conserve my energy. I REALLY hope I start to feel better, I feel like I'm letting them down, plus it seems a waste to spend the money on obedience then not follow through with the classes.

Melissa, that is awesome news about Ginny. Sounds like obedience might be a good way to relieve some of her anxiety.

And sorry you haven't been feeling well recently. Hope the girls gave you some extra cuddles.

Thanks! I keep meaning to post some new photos but I keep forgetting to take some. I'll try to remember to get some photos tonight. :smile2:
 
I'm happy to hear Ginny is doing so well! You must be so proud.

I had the same problems with Bailey peeing and pooing on my deck. I allowed her to do it when it snowed because the stairs iced up. I just had to treat her as if she had an accident in the house. I think she got the hint.

Ginny has never been 'allowed' to relieve herself on the porch. All I can figure is she convinced herself it was ok as a puppy and we haven't been able to set her straight yet. I'm just glad we haven't had an accident in the house yet.

She's so cute when she heals, she has the most beautiful little trot. I'm so proud of her. One of these days I'll get around to videoing it. I'll say maybe tonight, but I say that a lot and then never do it. I'll really try though. :smile2:
