Angus is missing

wow they responded fast. This was their response:
"Thanks for the e-mail. We know you are going through a hard time not being able to locate this animal, but we do not run missing animals reports."

Keep emailing them! Maybe if they get enough emails, they will consider it.

I didn't get a response to my e-mail :confused2:

I sent it out last night.

Michele called me earlier and gave me some info to share with everyone. I will let her go into more details when she gets off work later today...but basically WLOS news does not publish stories about lost pets. Michele asked them to make an acception but they said they would have to do it for everyone if they did a story on Angus. WLOS did tell her that if they recieved ALOT of emails concerning Angus they might consider doing a story on him (maybe!!!). Michele can give better details.....

Yes I spoke to someone in newsroom this morning.although he understands how we are all looking, and trying to find ways to get word out,he emphatically said,if we do for one,we have to do it for everyone.

Which really,as far as I'm concerned, helping owners to get word out about a missing dog, could be thier only answer in finding him.My heavens...I know there are lots of dog owners, but geewillikers! So giving me the answer,do for one,do for all does'nt cut it in my book.

What we really need to do..is be very vocal about this on FaceBook etc. They check thier FaceBook profile alot...He told me,if we really made some noise about Angus, they may consider a story.

I'm going to go into Janet's shutterfly album, and get photos,.Not sure if I can post pictures on thier profile, but I intend to bombard thier inbox as much as I can with pictures, info etc.Plus not to mention thier facebook profile.

If one person reads that the news station does not do"stories" on missing dogs..all it takes is one person to rebuff the policies.

Thank you Becky for posting here. It's been a long hot day.Lets hope Angus as found a cool nesting spot during these 100 plus temps.I hope he is safe~

Michele-

Has a Have a Heart Trap been set???

This works. Both the Sheltie rescue people in my area and the ones in Florida suggested the same thing. This is probably important for Angus because he is in an area that is not populated.

Set the trap...put KFC in it...all of them suggest KFC. You can borrow Have a Heart Traps for a local shelter.

Can you call this person who Janet gave Angus to and see if she can do this and make sure the trap is set in a shaded area, and check it at least twice a day? And it is important that she checks it, so that whatever gets caught does not die from dehydration while being caught. If this girl wants Angus back (and Janet stated that she still intends to give Angus to this girl if they get him back) to be quite frank....she needs to get her butt in gear and do more to get him back.

This has been suggested a few times and has been skimmed over, so I wanted to bring it up again.

Thanks
Danielle

I'm going to call Janet tonite.

The new member that posted that had Angus, has not posted since the other day.Must be she is'nt looking at posts.I will see what I can do.I know she may be upset, and I came off a bit off the handle in a post, which I am sorry for.But in the heat of the moment, reading the post of a sighting, and talking to Janet.I do need to give her a jingle, and maybe chat a moment with her.

I am not talking about that person.

I am talking about the person that Janet gave Angus to. The one who lost Angus in the first place. Janet said that she still plans to give Angus back to this person. So....I was just thinking she should be the one checking the trap since it is near her home, and it was her dog (even if on a trial basis).

Here's a heads up~

Ok lots to post here.First off a public apology to Joy Newton. She is the new member sheltieboyz.

I came off a bit having a NY moment,in a post the day something was posted about a sighting of Angus.

So with that said,I am hoping Joy will post again, and give us many particulars, that seems to have been misconstrued & mixed up.In all our haste,excitement,etc...theres lots to the story that needs to be said.

I have however, just had a conversation, with this very pleasant lady. She has givin me some wonderful leads, that we must follow up on.Even tho Angus has not been wit them, they are continuously looking for him.

She told me,she felt Angus, was in an area that is populated with campers, and many folks. It is in every possibility,he is being kept by someone. We do hope that he is not being chained somewhere, and they are taking care of him.

There is one point, that needs clearing up.Angus did not slip his collar. He literally bolted from Jean's hands. She was the lady that had Angus at the time he got away again. He bolted, she tried to hold on to him,and was pulled to her knees. He took off with the retractable leash still hooked to him. So I do need to clear that up.

Antoher thing,we do not know id Amber left Angus' collar on him in those 3 days. How do we really know he had ID on him when he got out of her house.? We don't know. She may not be coming clean about alot of things. After all,if it was easy to say he had ID on him, then why was'nt Janet called the very moment he went with the 1st family.

What I will add is this,Joy has a business of a cake decorator,of 30 years, she knows alot of people. She has in the past been called by folks, that have taken in a sheltie.Because she knowledgable of the breed, which she is an owner handler, many people call her.Which is how she aquired Angus.

In her time with Angus, she bathed & wormed him.She did keep him seperate from her dogs,to check his poop, and he was wormy. So she wormed him, bathed & groomed him.His toenails were in terrible condition. They were worn to the quicks, and were bleeding. His coat was matted and in terrible condition,no doubt from all the wandering. He was fed a good meal, and settled in nicely. So Angus was not in her possession when he bolted. He was in another home at that time.(Jean Wilkes)

Joy has checked with Jean,as she has nearly made herself sick over this whole thing. She's thinking the "what ifs" or I "should haves".
I will be calling her,to reasure her,she is not to blame, for Angus getting away from her.Jean told Joy,that Angus totally all of a sudden became a differant dog that day walking on the leash.Almost as if he had a bad memory, and just bolted.

This is what Joy has givin me for leads:

1~there are 2 free publication newspapers, everyone reads weekly. We need to find phone #'s and place an add with them. They are:Waynesville Mountaineer & Smoky Valley News.

2~ The local radio station (WPTL,Canton NC) WILL do an community announcement on Angus.BUT someone must call them between 8:30-9 am (ONLY) as they will not take calls prior or after concerning things that folks request.I'm thinking this must be YOU are actually on the air live, making the plea for help.

3~It is a 95% chance Angus is in the Johnathan Creek area,Cherokee Valley, Crabtree Area.I'm thinking they may be campgrounds,or parks. All of which are populated places,so we can only hope he has been taken in.With no ID,we only can hope.

I do know from our conversation, many people DO NOT take dogs, especially ones as shelties to the shelters. They take them to Sarge Rescue.I'm not going into particulars here, but for reasons they go there usually first.
So we need to get phone #'s,and be in touch with Sarge Rescue.I'm sure there is info on the internet for all the phone #'s we need, but I decided to post here,to let everyone know of my conversation with Joy.

Another thing..it is my feeling, that Amber being the foster (trial) home,if she had one ounce of wanting to know or be albe to help in some way,she would JOIN here as a member,to let us know what and if or anything they are still doing to find Angus.I'm quite p'oed right now,as Joy has tried several attempts to reach her,and Amber is not returning messages.

I do hope, that in Angus' retuen, that he does not go back there.Tha'ts my feeling.Again..my feelings~Now off my soap box~

I have asked Joy to post, she is going on vacation for 10 days, she does have my phone #.But if Becky could possibly email her,and give her # it would help also,as she is a bit closer to Janet than Brian & I.If someone calls Joys home, saying they have Angus, her mother is taking messages, and she can call us.

It is a good possible case, that Joy may be contacted again, because many people know she will take a sheltie in,becuase of her history of having them as pets.

Long post..I know..but thought ya'll should know what I have found out.Again my apologies to Joy.now i'm calling Jean,to check in with her,as I want to be sure she is ok.

I will check back in later.

I agree Danielle.in the long conversation with Joy,I did once ask for amber's number, but I ended up not getting it.I am in hopes that Joy will pop in,and possibly PM me,with Amber's phone #.

I check all the online sites including Sarge's every night. So far nothing. I'll keep looking until he is found.

Great post Michele. You are a FANTASTIC AWESOME SUPER friend to Janet. The best. It is so nice of you to give us an update, as some of us are sitting here on eggshells waiting for some news.

If I sounded a bit pissy in my post about the trap it is because I really feel that Amber (the one who Janet originally gave Angus to) should be doing more. We are all doing this stuff and we aren't the ones who lost Angus. I could not imagine being so nonchalant about losing the dog. Now, I know that Amber is somehow related to Janet, but seriously...Janet was angry at the shelter? She should be angry at Amber. Amber was the one who was SUPPOSED to be notifying the shelters. If she was concerned in the least, she would have been there checking, calling etc. Obviously she was not. And obviously she should not be trusted with that job again.

Phewww.....feel better now.

I am getting way to wrapped up in finding these babies. I need to take a step back for a night
