Another Vibrant Pets Question

To give another opinion....

For some reason, that I'm not even sure of, I'm just not a fan of VP. It just seems fake to me. For some reason, it just goes against my grain. I'm not entirely sure why, but perhaps because it purports to be evertything to everypup. I just don't believe that such a product exists. '\

I do believe that certain homeopathic remedies have merit. Bacca is on a milk thistle supplement which we (my vet and I) think is helping to control his ALT's

Glucosamine supplements clearly do help both humans and animals with arthritic issues.

So I still don't GET VP? Sorry if I'm rocking the boat, but I would really like to know why some have pups on these supplements instead of more traditional vetrinary or diet advice.

(e.g. on the diet side....do we think that even the modern diets available doe not supply the nutrients needed?)

When do we stop?

To tell you the truth,we were hesitant also.We decided to give it a try, only after many other things we had been doing all along for Earnhardt, were not working. But there were also other changes that we made also in conjunction to using VP.

We made a food change,he was givin local honey, and he was put on a short term of prednisone,to help the internal itch, which was our vet thought nerve related. Then it went to him being obbsessed with chewing those areas.Vicious cycle~

I wished now I had really good pictures of Earnhardts legs & the differance after 2 weeks.
But I had this bookmarked for some time now,it was only one page of items I had read prior to ordering the first jar.

But we totally hear ya,cause we were at one time thinking it also.

Barb, I understand perfectly what you're saying. I felt the exact same way when Lee told me about what he'd developed. The only reason I bought it was because he said he'd give me my money back if it didn't help Annie and Bits' joint issues. He also explained how he developed the product. I have to admit, hearing the developer explain it is an advantage. It's a lot easier to trust someone when you can look them in the eye and you know where they live. I followed his instructions, and it worked.

I didn't change foods. Yes, I was using a top-of-the-line food -- but it didn't stop Bits' and Annie's periodic limping after they'd been running or chasing deer -- or just playing. Neither did the glucosamine/chrondroiten supplements we''d been giving based on a book on dog arthritis. I just thought we had Shelties with "wonkey hip" issues -- luck of the draw. The vet prescribed deramax and taking it easy. We did that for a couple of years. After three days on Vibrant Pets, the girls stopped favoring their back legs. They began to run more and more. Bits lost weight and both got back their muscle tone. Quite simply, seeing our Shelties become healthy convinced me.

When I told my vet about Vibrant Pets, he was very interested. Now he thinks it's great -- one more weapon in the arsenal.

I give the VP show dog formula to Layla and Beckon because I genuinely trust the product. They don't need the same combination of ingredients in the same proportion as the others because they don't have those problems. I could probably not give it, but I like being able to give their systems a boost.

Bottom line: You're absolutely right, Barb. Not everyone needs to use VP, especially if your furkid doesn't have any health issues. And it doesn't make anyone a less devoted Sheltie Mom or Dad if they choose not to use the product. But if your Sheltie has skin issues or joint issues (which is what VP was originally designed to address), I'd say, "Give it a try. You have nothing to lose."

I was a little hesitant at first too. I did a little research and couldn't find any negative reviews on it. Bailey was having constant UTI's and chronic diarrhea from a sensitive stomach. VP says it boosts the immune system and helps the body absorb more nutrients from their food. Well, I can say that Bailey hasn't had a UTI or a sensitive stomach issue since being on vibrant pets. Yes, I also did change her food, so that contributed to it, but I do believe that VP has helped her. She does have a beautiful coat and her shedding is not an issue.

My parents maltese has been having a scratching issue. Since adding VP to her diet for a week, her scratching has dramatically decreased.

I take a daily multi-vitamin, so why shouldn't my dog? I also had my vet check it out and she approved.

But, this is the same with the food issue. Do your own research, discuss with your vet and decide what is best for your pet. Just because you like something and it works for your pet, doesn't necessarily mean it is good and will work for someone else's pet.

We tried it because we thought for 7 years that we had Cleveland on a very good food and were doing the best for him. His hips in those last 3 years were getting "crickety and sore." He was only 7 when he went to the bridge.

We have MMM on a better quality food, but all dog food is designed for a wide arrangements of dogs, like you said, everything to every dog. Both Ron and I sat down looked at this and said, "We both take a natural vitamin daily for joints and better health, so let's give McKinley one as well."

We also saw in 2 weeks a huge difference in McKinley fur. It will be many years before we see him crickety and sore and hopefully never. We are doing many things different with this pup than we did with Cleve, mainly because of this Forum. We are very thankful and grateful.

I can also tell you that Ron has now been taking VP daily as well (1 scoop daily) and after I think about 5-6 weeks now, we are seeing new hair growth on his bald spot in the back:eek2:. (He will bonk me on the head if he ever sees this post).

My dogs have never had better coats, or less shedding, since I put them on Vibrant Pets. And Pixie, who's had all kinds of medical problems and was a very old three-year-old, regained her puppyhood on it. It is simply amazing!

I totally get VP for older dogs who have joint and hip issues....I'm sure that it has holistic ingredients to alleviate those aches and pains. My timber had glucosamine supplements, and Bacca is on milk thistle for his liver ailments with good results.

I'm just not sure about putting young, healthy pups on these kind of supplements. We should be relying on a good diet instead, don't you think?

Since everyone is asking questions about VP, I'd like to ask one as well. Does anyone stop feeding their dogs vibrant pets for a week or more every once in a while?

I once read that if a person takes daily vitamins, they should stop taking it for a week or two every few months. Otherwise your body becomes accustom to it and the vitamin loses it's effectiveness. Your body just becomes use to those vitamins.

For this reason, I stopped giving Bailey frozen pumpkin in her kong. I didn't want her body to expect it and then it will lose it's effectiveness on diarrhea or I will have to increase the amount in order for it to work.

does this make sense or am looking too deeply into this?

Brad said, "Please ask her please, quick, which formula?"

I guess I am just an old chicken farmer at heart and I put all my eggs in one basket with Cleve and I am not doing that again.

We addressed the thoughts of adding something to his diet during our initial research. But we heard from trusted people and from research on Ron's part, that adding the VP it gives a balance of a good daily vitamin in McKinley diet is not putting our eggs in one basket.

We all look at things from our own experiences and where we are at that moment in time. I so wish I had done better research with Cleveland. There are SO many things I did wrong with his health. I so wish I would have gotten to know other sheltie owners but I thought I didn't need it. Hubris on my part. I wish I could explain this better.
