Anyone use a front clip harness?

We have one for Riley. It's works well for any pulling he may try. If he pulls he ends up turning himself around to face me. Riley knows when he has it on and puts himself into a heel :biggrin2:

The only problem I see is that our version (easy walk or something like that) says not to use it is they will be running because it may chafe them behind the front legs. So that may be an issue for flyball.
 
We are sellng the Easy Walk at the dog club now as a preferencce for harnesses that give better control (same concept with the front clip). Tully plays ball with a kelpie that wears one all the time and she has no problems running or chasing a ball with it on.
 
I have the sensation sensible harness which I use on my 2 and on fosters. I find it helps in any pulling and definitely gives you more control over the dog. Plus you get many opportunities to reward the dog for looking at you!

They look quite comfortable and the dogs have no problem running around in it. The front part is abit saggy when the dog is standing, but then becomes taut across the chest when they sit (tho' still not to a point of discomfort).
 
Believe it or not, Pierre is our pull-hound. The other two will behave on lead when things aren't rolling by (Abbie's weakness is any two-wheeled object). We use the EasyWalk on him when he forgets his manners (inevitably every couple months) for a few weeks and it re-reaches him not to pull. I love it for a walking harness.

For a Flyball harness, I would get one of the ones with the handle on the shoulder part. For a larger (than Duncan) dog, it really makes sense.

Thanks I was actually looking at the one with the handle for flyball since he needs a real harness and saw the front clip which looked interesting. I am thinking of ordering both real soon. As to size Mr Scathan Coimhead was measured at 25" so i think he needs the Border Collie size though I need to do another measure since he is right on the edge.

Who knows next winter Sca might even compete a time or two if he keeps improving.

Which harness were you looking at for Flyball? I might get one with a handle because as my belly gets bigger, I'm going to have to adjust my stance and it would be nice to have that handle right there. Right now, he has a tiny blue argyle one that is really cute but mostly for show, not for sport.

Pierre would be a fashionable sled dog! That or climb into to the sled and steal the reins.
 
I know people here who get the clean run ones - they look good and are really sturdy. Someone locally actually makes mine to meaure.

The harnesses with a handle are really useful - I have a spare one for Deska that I use when we go to the oval to make him easier to grab in case of cars. One of my team mates was racing her dog with a huge belly and yep, that handle is definately handy for pregnancy. I have chronic vertigo so have problems bending over so I find it useful too.

Harness with a handle is a definate must for medium to small dogs - helps with release and catching. Next time I get one made for Tully I'm going to get a longer handle though as its still a long way for me to reach because she is so little.
