I imagine our top two are the same here, but I bet Shelties are NOT in the top 10. Australian Shepherds are very popular here, also the mini Aussies which I think are now called (confusingly) American Shepherds. Every other dog it seems is a dang doodle! I just don't get that trend - thousands of dollars for what is essentially a mutt, and no guarantee it is hypoallergenic.... why don't you just get a poodle????

I think because people see the poodles in the show ring and think that they have to look like that..... they don't realize that they can get them groomed a nice even short cut..........

True. I used to think that. I think a miniature poodle may be in my future

Recently my husband's eldest daughter acquired two standard poodle puppies. They seem to come from a good breeder near Dallas. She didn't want to go back to the hair with shelties, and had seen enough of Labs they had had for the kids LOL. They have a beautiful head and eye, and seem to be pretty smart so far. She has been dealing with fairly constant stomach/gastric issues with them however. Apparently the breed is known for sensitive stomachs. I think I might want to deal with hair over the runs and pukes!
