April photos of the boys and Angus pupdate

Thank you for all your lovely comments, I'm so glad you enjoyed the photos and the videos.

I do feel extremely blessed every day when I walk the dogs and it is the most special time for me. Not only do I have these three amazing boys at my side, I also have several acres of rolling downland normally entirely to myself. Hence I have been able to safely work on getting a solid recall with Angus - you will have noticed he's off lead in many of the pictures.

At this time of the year the Downs are just starting to come into their own. The sky larks are singing and the Yellowhammers are calling "a little bit of bread and no cheeeese!" to each other - they are sadly declining so I treasure the colony. In the summer the butterflies are a delight. I have spent literally hours - sometimes without the dogs - watching and photographing these beautiful insects. We have seen Spitfires regularly swooping over head and once or twice a Hurricane. This is country which would have echoed to the sound of the Battle of Britain during the Second World War and is incredibly moving to see these planes and hear the unmistakable noise of their engines. Even in the winter when it is foggy or bitterly cold the hills are still a haven and somewhere I find peace and healing. I have never failed to return from a walk in a better state of mind than when I set out.

Before I lost Yogi I used to look back at the three dogs trotting with the haze of the early sun behind them and be amazed at how lucky I was, yet realise that those moments were transient and not forever. When I lost him it was so hard going back the following day with just two and there are certain parts of the walk I will always associate with him but all happy memories. When I was struggling to decide what to do about getting another dog I could visualise the newcomer as a shadowy outline playing with Epic and it is magical to see it come to pass. Revel loves coming up there and I hope that like Yogi he will be walking on the Downs until the day I lose him. But for now, the three tricolours trot and run beside me and the hills echo to the sound of sheltie music! :smile2:

Wow! My intent was to look through the photos and pick a couple favorites to mention to you but I just can't! They are all terrific!

I have to say, Revel looks absolutely amazing for 15. He's still surveying his land, I can tell :)

So interesting to hear more about your part of the world. I've always been so fascinated by the stunning 'back drop' in your photos! Very envious! :smile2:

Beautiful shelties and beautiful country! :smile2:

I had recognized the UK landscape in the first picture...then I have seen your location... I was in Edimburg and Highlands two years ago....unforgettable!
