swimming and baths

Treader's never been around water yet, except during a bath. Onthe last day that they are open, our water park here lets dogs come in and have fun with their humans. But we couldn't go with Treader last year because it was on a Sunday and we had to go to church. Maybe this year.

lol, baths don't count since dogs are almost guaranteed not to like them :wink2:

That pretty neat that your local water park has a bring your dog day. That could be so much fun!

Marcus, my late male, hated water. He would not even walk through a puddle. Ellie, on the other hand loved water. She would walk into a lake or pond up to her belly, but never really swam.

Thanks Kelly great input

Technically I think the answer is yes, they can swim, but no, they (generally) don't like it.

I tell people who can't understand why this breed doesn't like the water, is that it's like you trying to swim in a wool body sweater.

Shelties are a breed that definitely should be supervised closely & wear a life jacket when in or around the water. They tend to tire quickly.

My two swim quite often. But only in the back yard. There are too many snakes and gators around here to allow them in a lake or stream.
