Aren't dogs supposed to anticipate earthquakes, etc?

Since when do we get earth quakes in Ottawa! My first thought went to that crazy movie about 2010, that the world was ending because Canada got an earth quake, pretty scary i didn't know what was going on until after the fact, anyways! our dogs were outside when it hit and they all started barking like mad fools, then just carried on with their lives, i guess they weren't too concerned.

Actually we get them quite regularly as the Gatineau Hills run right along a fault line. Most times we don't feel them, but they do happen. About 5 years or so, we get one big enough that some folk will notice. It sure ain't the San Andreas fault, but the potential is there for damage.

But given that we do have them regularly, even if we don't feel them, do our dogs? And do they anticipate them?

The answers coming back are a mixed bag. Maybe Shelties aren't attuned to quakes???
