Bad News Overload

That's great news,Glad things went well. I hope your Surgeon is right and she got it all. How long does it take for her to heal from the surgery?
Give her a hug for us. Congratulations :)

Thanks, all. She's home and feisty, and demanded a bowl of mush immediately! Even the techs said she was awake in no time. She has two weeks in the cone of shame and a month at least on soft food, no bones or anything to chew. There's a divot in the side of her upper lip but that should fill in some as she heals. The vet sent the mass out so we'll know more in about two weeks on the long-term prognosis. I'm hoping my soft donut cone will work well enough, the hard plastic thing is awful. I am so glad she's home and this behind us! Now to keep her quiet, hah. :rolleyes2:

That's the Sheltie fighting spirit we like to see! Super glad she's bounced back. Anesthesia has come a long and nuanced way from when I was a tech in the 80's. It's great how much better they seem to do now. Happy to hear she's back home and wanting food, always a good sign!

Flurry had the surgery on her jaw this morning. She's done and recovering. They usually keep major surgeries overnight but said she was up and awake so quickly that they may let me bring her home later. The surgeon was very happy with how it went, although she had to take part of the bone and another two teeth. She expects a complete recovery. I'm so relieved that it's over. I can't wait to get her home.

So sorry I missed this! We have Calvin's team over Wednesday night and it was all day Wednesday cooking and then all day yesterday cleaning all up. Glad Flurry is home - my goodness, they are surprising aren't they? And eating already... yikes, makes my mouth hurt! Like how do you know if she is in pain eating? As a sheltie, I imagine she would eat regardless.... How long is she on pain meds? Two weeks of waiting - ugh - maybe that's worse case scenario... we can only hope.

She's only eating my freeze-dried food that I can make into oatmeal-consistency mush, and she gobbles that. But she's had some soft cookies too and has no problem. She was a bit wifty yesterday but today she's back to nonstop Flurry....Bird! Squirrel! Mail! Chipmunk! Fly! Honestly their resilience is amazing.

She's on a combo of Gabapentin and Galliprant for a week, and then Gabapentin tapering off. It sure seems to work.
