Barking and lunging at car windows

my Spikey has always lunged at the window at bikes, rollarbladers, I though it was wheels he didnt like....good to know its a normal trait for them....lol I just laugh, not worth stressing over.

Sandstorm used to do this allot more than he does now, I just don't let him. People on bikes really appreciate it and thank me when I have my dog sit-stay as they pass. It is frightening to be lunged at while on a bicycle.

I misunderstood, sorry- it is very hard to control this in a car like Barb said in her post. Sandstorm used to do this on walks-I won't let him, but he does it in the car also!! He doesn't lunge at the window though, he just barks his head off and marks up the windows!!

all this time I thought that I was alone. It takes a very long time to patiently ascertain all the trauma a rescue kid has gone through.

Harper Lee my seven year old rescue, is no exception to this rule and I thought that she was barking and lunging at the car windows because of some trauma she had once had. That it is a prey instinct and more of a visual nature makes so much sense to me.

Harper Lee loves riding in the car but has ear piercing, jowl chomping and lunging capabilities that put me through the ringer. We tie her down on the car floor when we go for rides now and it does alieviate the problem. In the crate that we used, she went ballistic and I was fearful for her safety.

She still cries but from her down below vantage point, she is so much calmer.
