Be honest...

Max trots around the living room until his food is ready. If he passes me before I can get his food down, he will not turn back...he has to complete his circle. :rolleyes2: Fred will stand on his hind legs until we tell him to sit so he can get his meal.
 
I would put Indy in a Sit or Down, but he's too wily for me....he barks, then circles to the other side of the kitchen island so I can't see him to put him in a down. If I go to follow him, he runs to the other side of the island and barks again....it becomes really stupid when all of a sudden this has turned into "catch me if you can"
 
Abby barks and jumps. No food until no jumping, quiet and sitting. Sometimes it takes minutes sometimes seconds. Then when we eat she barks and does circles but gets no food. Everyday barking, circles and no food at our dinner and she still does it everyday.....go figure!!!
 
Sadie and Ginny don't get their food unless their being quiet. Ginny is more persistent with trying to bark for her dinner. I make her sit, gently wrap my hand around her muzzle and tell her to hush. Took a few tries when she was younger but she's generally very good about it now.

Both get impatient when the food isn't put down fast enough and will give a yap of frustration, but always quiet down since they know they won't get food for barking.

Funny story today... Bailey doesn't normally jump or bark when I'm preparing her meals. Since she has a UTI, I've been wrapping her pill in a piece of cheese and giving it to her after she eats. Well, I guess she knows that because after I picked up her bowl, I started to walk out of the kitchen and Bailey was jumping and barking at the counter where her medicine is. It was like she was saying "Hey mom! You forgot about my medicine and cheeseee." After she got her cheese, she happily walked out of the kitchen with me. Silly puppy.

Who said shelties arent creatures of habit!?! You do something once with them and they expect it all the time!:smile2:
 
I taught mine very early to lie down on their mats while I prepare dinner (used a puppy fence at first). Nowadays Deska lies on a mat in the kitchen (just as well too as he drools badly) while Tully sits outside on the back porch. The only noises we get is if I leave their dinner on the bench and leave the room - then Deska moans and growns and tries to get me back in the kitchen. When I eat dinner they also tend to stay on their mats, although recently Tully has been sitting under the table.

Aww, Bailey! So cute.

When we tried to give Buffy a pill wrapped in cheese she picked through the cheese. She ate all the cheese and spit out the pill. It was just a little pill too! So we have to open her mouth and place the pill there to make her take pills. She won't even eat them if they are wrapped in hot dog (although she will eat the hot dog, just veto the pill).
