Beau's first agility class

Well, it was interesting. Mostly lecture about shaping and given two Susan Garrett exercises to try at home. Beau got antsy and bored sitting for 1 hour, but it does look like it will be good. I am trying to figure out how to get him to side up on my right side--we have spent so many weeks working on a good left "side" right up close and heeling there. Instructor wants us to teach the dogs to sit and stand on right side.

My only complaint, which seems to be at alot of classes, is owners who do not realize their dog is not good among a number of other dogs. We have one (not sure it is was long-haired GSD or Tervuren), but he snarled at every dog that got within 4 feet of him. Sigh. Proud of Beau though who I was able to redirect and keep calm when that dog first came in and snarled at him! He can be such a good pup....when he wants to be

I feel your pain! I had the very same issues when I took Baron to classes. One dog got his tail and pulled out a chunk of hair! Another lunged at him snarling.
Once I got to more advanced classes it was not as much of an issue thank goodness!

He will get used to standing on your right side. I started with beginner obedience classes, so my dog still will only walk on my left side. However she has no issue with running on my right side in agility.
