Best dry dog food?

I find this blatent advertising of dog food unacceptable, people are providing links to food, does anyone know if these people are sponsored by the dog foods they are linking you too

Ya konw..I find this respinse totally out of line. You should know by now,all of us are vocal about foods we feed. And for you to come on here, being a member that is NOT new here, you should know us well enough.

How I WISH...I was a "sponser". I have pondered food many times, what we fee here is what we feel comfortable doing. As far as "link" provided,it was provided as a courtesy to the original poster

My two did well on TOTW, except Liam had itchy skin. I switched them to Summit (Canadian chicken and Australian Lamb), rotating bag of each kind, each time I go to a new bag. I get the 5 lb bag, which lasts about 10 days to 2 weeks (I am not sure on the exact time frame). I also noticed on TOTW that Liam had a lot (and I mean a lot ) of discharge from the eyes. Emma was getting it too, which is why I made the switch. Since then, no more eye discharge, gorgeous silky coats, etc.

If we are providing a link, we are in fact just answering an honest question with an honest answer. None of us are sponsored by the food companies. I think that is a ridiculous comment to have made. Obviously, those of us who are long-time members here are concerned about what we feed our dogs and freely share information with one another. We do it with our food, with our friends, why not our dogs' food too?

Hi all,

What do you think is the best dry dog food? Right now I'm using Iams but I don't know if that is the best.

Hi, I'm new to the website. But I had my Sheltie on Science Diet and when I went to a pet store and they told me to switch her to a natural dog food. So I did some research and found that I feel like natural dog food is best for her, she is now on Blue Wilderness. She is more happy and more playful now! So I would recommend Blue Wilderness but it's up to you!

Merrick's is an excellent food, with lots of flavor choices. I've used their cans when I had to feed wet for one reason or another. I would use their dry food too without any hesitation.

I use merrick's in rotation with other food. We've got a rotation going of merricks, taste of the wild, and orijin.

I read a book recently about dog food (unfortunately I don't remember the title) that recommended not just feeding a high quality food, but having 2-4 foods that meet your criteria and rotating them. The author said that the only ones who benefit from brand loyalty and feeding one food for life is the dog food manufacturers.

Here's an unrelated article from dog food advisor on the same subject.

I'm a very new member of the forum who recently lost my sheltie, but am getting a new baby at the end of the month. I found this thread to be extremely informative. My Darcy was on Fromm's and I was planning on sticking with that, but have gotten alot of useful information about different brands and rotating foods. I'm very capable of doing my own research on the brands mentioned in this thread and making up my own mind. I never once assumed that anyone was blatantly advertising dog food.

Thanks all for the information!
